Good news, I hope...
Well Im about 5 months out now. Ive had pcos most of my "mature" life. I was never regular. I didnt bleed for 2 and a half years once, and then, as you can immagnine, it was awful when I finally did. I started getting the facial hair pretty bad about 4 years ago, and as I climbed in weight it only got worse. Unfortunately, I still have to shave every day. Kaiser just started doing laser hair removal which I will be trying soon. The good news, however is that I think I may finally be ovulating! I tried unsuccessfully for about 2 and a half years to get pregnant before getting surgery. Now, Ive had a period every four weeks like clock work. Its crazy! I assume I am ovulating, though have no other evidence to support that theory. I hope so. I plan to try to get pregnant once I reach goal, hopefully around my one year mark. Then, off to plastic surgery! I can tell you though, that if Im NOT ovulating and just getting a period every month, that that would really suck. After all, it wasnt that bad not having it often, except for when I would finally get it... hehe. Anyway, I'll let you know what happens next!

Hi Donna...I am a fellow cyster. Your story sounds a lot like mine. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 22 after I hadn't had a period in like 2 and half years. I tried the Clomid thing...and the injectable thing...no luck. I even spent 4+ years on Metformin. My husband and I have been ttc (trying to conceive) for 8 years now...but since my surgery we are taking the recommended 18-month break. My cycles have not resumed...but then again I am about 1 month out and recently went on the pill (don't wanna get pg too soon!). But that is WONDERFUL news that your cycles have normalized! If you are not sure if you are ovulating there are a few things you can do. The first thing is to check your cervical mucous...aka your discharge. When you are getting ready to ovulate it will become watery or egg-whitey...really strechy...it literally looks like egg whites. If that doesn't help, you can always buy a basal body thermometer and take your temprature each morning before you get out of bed. Your temprature will take a dip just before ovulation and then spike (go way up). There is a free website that is just wonderful that helps you track all of this. It's called www.fertilityfriend.com . Good luck!

I HAD MY BYPASS 11 MONTHS AGO WENT FROM 236-TO 120. I WANTED TO TELL U, U CAN BUY AN OVULATION PREDICTER KIT AT WAL-MART. U SHOULD OVILATE ABOUT 14 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR PERIOD. U CAN ALSO TELL BY THE DISCHARGE IT WILL BE CLEAR LIKE SNOT. THESE KITS ARE ABOUT $30.00 BUT ARE WORTH IT IF YOU LEARN WHEN IN YOUR CYLE U OVULATE WHEN U START TRYING TO CONCIEVE YOU WILL KNOW YOUR FERTILE DAYS. LET US KNOW ABOUT THE LASER TREATMENTS. I JUST HEARD FROM SOMEONE ELSA W/POS ON THIS SITE SHE DID IT AND IT HELPED FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS THEN CAME BACK,SHE SWEARS BY ELCTROLOSIS. I JUST SEEN A DERMATOLOGIST THEY SAID FOR ME THE LASER WOULD BE $350.00X4 TREATMENTS. BEST OF LUCK.ANGEL
I found out I had pcos two and a half years ago but I had a feeling I had it for much longer. I also had wls in hopes of improving my chance of getting pregnant. I will go in to see my endo soon to see how my weight loss has effected my pcos.
I have had laser hair removal. It is amazing. Worth every dime! It is painful and you have to have more treatments do to the pcos but I recommended it to everyone. Good Luck!
