My name is Crestcencia, and I am 21 years old. I am also married...I was diagnosed with pcos last week, I always wanted a big family...is that still possible, I have gained 56 pounds in the last 6 months, especially around my stomach area...is this normal? Will I ever have children of my own? What can I do?, I have all of the symptoms and i'm happy that I know why my body is acting up but I'm sad and asking my self what did I do. I was even thinking about divorce because its not fair to my husband...Can anyone help?

One doctor told me that is call the X-syndrome....gaining weight in the middle and it is a symptom. Don't give up hope!!!! Have you see an endocrinologist yet? Women with PCOS can have children sweetie..it's just going to be harder. So don't give up and be sure to see a specialist that really cares about you and shows it! Tracy -75

I have had PCOS for years. They didn't diagnose me until 2000. I know exactly when mine kicked in. I was 21. At that time I was wearing a size 5 jeans. 90lbs in one year! Even with the PCOS, I have three kids. They are 8,6, and 3. After my last one, they put me on metformin and I haven't had anymore cysts. I also have a lot of pain when I ovulate, so I know when it's happening, and it's been regular.(I have the IUD) It's safe to get pregnant on the metformin, you just have to stop once you are. The metformin will also help you not gain anymore weight as easily. Your husband loves you for you, so I wouldn't worry about it. I know what you are going through though. Just remember that this is a metabolic disorder, and you didn't bring it on yourself!
