Hi ladies, I'm not active on the boards anymore, but I wanted to let you gals know that I lost 135 lbs after my VSG 2 years ago.  My body hair thinned after I hit normal BMI.  I have awful facial hair, shave everyday and that did not change. I had tried laser hair removal  8yrs ago with no results, but decide to try again at normal bmi.   Well, I'm happy to say I went for my first treatment a few weeks ago and I can tell for sure it's working!  After about 10 days my face was smooth for the first time in 17yrs!  I still have some thicker hair right around my chin, but it's only been one treatment and I am amazed!  I have hated this damn hair all my life.  I don't like to swim or sweat because I don't want my makeup to melt off and I never go camping because I cant shave right away and I don't want everyone to see it.  Now I see a camping trip in my near future with my 6yr old boy and I'm so excited.  I wanted to share to give you girls dealing with the hair some hope!

Thank you for posting about this. It has been a HUGE struggle with me and hopefully once I get to a normal BMI, will also have those results. I am SO self conscious about it and it sucks to have to shave every single day.

Grats on the weight loss! *And hair loss too!*

Thank you!!! I to have to shave,  it makes me feel less like a woman.  I mean with ym make up and all you cant tell it unless it is late in the day!!!  I was hopingonce i reached goal, that the laser removal would work.  Oh how awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to shave everyday too! It sucks so much not only do I have it on my face but on my tummy, boobs, and back.  I just found a place in Vegas that is sunning a good deal for laser. nice to know I might have a chance.  I still have 100lbs to go but am giving it a shot.

I have been wanting to get laser hair removal for a while..... i have alot of facial hair.... I dont shave though, I pluck it every day... morning and night.... then I take 1000 grit sand paper and go at it lol.... i know its horrible for your skin, but it makes it smooth with out shaving... I dont want to get the "5 o clock shadow"...... But Seriously it wastes about 2 hrs out of my fricken day!

I know this is an older post, but anyone see improvement on the facial hair as you continue your journey?  I feel like you guys, its an every day annoyance and embarrassing.  I had both ovaries removed so now its just insulin resistance.  I am planning on having the sleeve sometime the beginning of next year.

Hi Susan1277, I wanted to update for you.  I had 8 treatments and my hair growth was reduced by 95%.  I still have courser hair around my chin, but now it's blond and no longer black like it used to be.  My hair was soooo bad, I could grow a better beard than my husband. No kidding.  After 1 treatment I could tell it was working and even my laser tech cried for me when she saw the results.  I have another PCOS friend with the same issue and she had RNY and is now getting laser hair removal.  It is working for her as well, although not as dramatically as it did for me.  She is getting great results, just taking more treatments.  I'm not sure what laser her doctor is using, but this is what mine used the harmony machine by alma laser.  I hope this helps you!  Good luck on your journey.  My sleeve was the best decision I ever made.  :)

Hi everyone I'm new to this site and I as well suffer from PCOS and hirsutism. I was fed up with shaving and tweezing and all the time it took from me that I decided to try laser hair removal. I had my first treatment on Sat but now I feel that my hair stubble and darkening (5 o'clock shadow) is a lot worse than it was before I had the treatment done. Has anyone else experienced this or know of this is happening? Thank you! -Martha
