I have had PCOS since I was 20.  Other than being annoying:  hard to lose weight, facial hair, irregular periods...it didn't really hurt until we were ttc.  We have been trying for 2 years now without any luck. We have gone through everything (Femara, Progesterone, Injections and IUI) up to the point of IVF.  My reproductive endocrinologist refused to do IVF until my BMI was below 40.  That hit me hard, because I also had my thyroid removed 4 years ago.  So, weightloss before surgery, was almost impossible.  It did make me really think about my health and was the kick in the pants I needed to make the decision to have WLS.  I am waiting for my "year" to be up (that's how long my surgeon wants us to wait to ttc again) and trying to focus on me for right now.  I think we will start over with oral and injectable meds before jumping right into IVF.  I am really hoping and praying that we don't ever have to get to that.

I do wish you the best of luck in ttc.  I understand how frustrating and disheartening the whole process can be.  Please "friend" me if you ever need to vent or ask questions.  It's always easier to talk to people who have been through it.  Thanks for posting this and for mentioning that website.  I will definitely check it out!

I was diagnosed when i was 14.. I am 25 now. I maintained my weight through highschool b/c i was such a jock.. then the issues w/ my back started, and i graduated being 200 lbs in 2004, to now... I am 25 and 388... I just had the WLS, the sleeve, and i am looking forward. I have been with my fiance for 7 years, and NEVER once used any sort of contraceptive, and have NOT been pregnant and all. we are getting married in October, and I pray every day that once i lose all this weight that we can start our family. I have been to the mayo clinic for the passed 4 years every 3-6 months for surgeries and feel like a lab rat. i have the facial hair, discoloration on my neck and underarms, no cycles at all, even with 100 days straight of provera... I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is my answer, that the surgery i had almost two weeks ago is my tool to helping me acheive what i want and be a happy girl :)
