getting pregnant
Hello all. I am new to this forum as well. I'm sure my story is a lot like yours out there. My husband and I tried to have kids right after we got married. We were unsuccessful after a year of trying. I already knew my sister had PCOS and I was soon diagnosed with it as well. I began seeing a reproductive endocronologist. I went in for many many tests, as well as my husband and they didn't have any information. We began using Clomid and nothing. We tried injectable medications (gonal F and follistim) and still nothing. We had a few unsuccessful IUI attempts and the doctor turned to us and said "we are using 3 times the normal amount of medications and nothing is working." So she told us it wasn't going to happen and we should look towards WLS. At the time, I was about 340.
So in January of 2009, we went to NYU Medical Center in NYC and began the process for LAP RNY. I needed 6 months of supervised diet for my insurance to approve and everything was looking good. I had 5 out of the 6 months and GUESS WHAT??? I was pregnant. I gave birth to my son Jacob on 1/7/10. A healthy baby boy.
I realized that I wanted to be around for him for a very long time so in September 2010 I went to Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY and started the process over again. This time I only needed 3 months so on 12/9/10 I had LAP RNY and I've never been happier. This is a life changing decision and I'm glad to have done it.

Isn't it amazing how that works! My husband and I also did fertility treatments and were told it was time for much more invasive treatments that we couldn't afford and we quit. Low and behold the next month I got a beautiful BFP! I have learned it's all in God's time and not always when we want it unfortunately.
