Biotin for hair

 Hey guys, 

I was looking for hair supplements for after surgery. I've heard that you start to lose your hair and my hair is so fine already that I wanted to start taking something now. My friend told me about biotin. But it says on the bottle its "For carbohydrate and energy metabolism".

My question is, should I be taking this if I'm insulin resistant? Have any of you taken this? Did it cause any side effects? I'm also taking Metformin.

I actually just upped the dosage on my biotin. I'm 5 months out from surgery and started losing my hair after 3 months. I find it does help. I'm not a dr or pharmacist though - you may want to ask your surgeon or pcp. :)

That happens when u don't get in aloy if protein girl... I would buy the supplements anyways because u never know

I take it and haven't had any side effects.

I take Metformin too....  had no problems......

 Most of hair loss has to do with lack of protein.....  you will lose some just because of the stress of the surgery.....Everyone is different though....   I had minimal hair loss and my hair is VERY fine....I took my vitamins and protein religiously before and after my surgery.  My hair loss was very minimal.

 thats great to know. i have very fine hair as well. i will be taking my vitamins diligently. 


my friend started taking biotin for her hair and nails just because she was thinning but she told me all the hair on her body grew back faster. that scares me! lol. because with pcos i already have a problem with facial hair. i don't want that to get worse.

I had pcos before surgery since surgery I have had a period every month.I am fixing to quit the biotin because after surgery my facial hair got alot smaller amount and with the biotin I am having alot more on my face and everywhere else,if you know what I mean...

How much biotin are y'all taking?  I am already thinning :(
