Since my surg. (2yrs) everything has been going really well with my cycle until 30+ days ago and counting.  I'm still having what looks to be a cycle. Visited my Gyn and I could either take med's similiar to birth control pills or ride it out.  I never had reg cycles until after surg. I stopped taking birth control 2 yrs ago due to fear of continuing taking hormones as I get older.

Has anyone gone through something similar, if so what did you do?

Yes I have been there! My Gyn  put me on provera. It just "resets" your cycle and you don't have to take is all month long like normal birth control. You may want to ask about that. It worked well for me and I was pretty regular for a long time, until Nov. when I had my surgery. Now I'm back to not getting one again, so I may have to go back on the provera. Hope this helps!

Yes. Before surgery periods were very infrequent but, every now and then I would have a realy long one. Once longer than a month, but by the time I could get into Gyn it stopped. Left my lower ab sore for a week. Now I just had surgery and having similar issue one day I think its staring the next I think its over then here it comes again. Hope this ends soon. At least I've not been overly emotional. My Gyn checked hormone levels last time and everything was normal. I have heard though that the long or heavy periods can happen when a cyst ruptures. My doc did vag ultrasound last time this happened and did say part of problem was PCOs

When I take Provera I have to warn my hubby ahead of time! It makes me VERY grouchy. It is quite effective, but man oh man am I mean on it!
