endo ambilation vs partial hystermocty

Hi,

Well I just got a call this week that my cysts on my ovaries are still there so he wants to remove them at the same time as the endo ambilation. I am debating on the endo ambilation because I am worried that my bleeding will come back or still have my periods. Also I just found I am anemic as well. I have heavy bleeding some times get it 2 times a month. I am 45 yrs old I don't plan on having any more kids mine are 12 and 15. Will a partial hystermocty stop my periods for good and ovualting as well. Is this one where you dont' have to take hormones? I just don't want to end up getting the endo amibilation and then 6 months or couple years have to get the partial hystermocty anyways. Will having the partial hystermocty help with my anemia. I am already doubling up on my iron supplement with bariatric advantage. But notice even more constipation. They want to set up the surgery I said not until I talk to him to discuss our options first. I know we talk the last time about it. But I am leaning towards the partial hystermocty. What is the recovering time between the two? I am exercising hour and half to 2 half hours a day. I got a personal trainer now and join Bally's. I am worried I would have to stop my exercise routine for awhile until I recover or get permission to exercise again. What was your experience with either one of these. Or if you had cysts removed laposcopically. Is the partial hystertocmy done the same way.

thanks

Forgive my medical background.. but it's endometrial ablation vs hysterectomy. (in case you want those terms to google around and find other input).

I have PCOS. I have had 4 IVF's, 1 Miscarriage of twins, have thrombophilia,  2 freezing of my uterus (endometriosis) and now with my WLS and all the exercise I guess it has caused my Uterus to collapse (prolapsed uterus). Thus, pulling down my bladder and bowel with it. YIKES!

I am meeting with a Uro- Gynecologist to find out what my options are. I am 37. Do I want to try to have more kids? *shrugs* I have  two adopted daughters age 2 and 4. I am happy with what I have. But I hate to think about losing the opportunity if I changed my mind. And I don't know if it is even possible. But my nurse seems to think that the PCOS part will stop now that I have lost the weight. Anyone want to weigh in on that?

I have had a period for going on 3 months!!! I am a little over 6 months Post op. So it's quite frustrating. I have lost a lot of blood and am anemic. Just had a full blood work up and waiting on the results. I will hopefully be able to adjust my supplements accordingly to feel a bit more energetic.

I am glad to see I am not the only other person having "female related issues" after having WLS. I just want the bleeding to stop and the Weightloss to continue!!! ACK!

I had alot more issues after my surgery. Everything came very suddenly and strong! Except my problem wasn't with my period not stopping. 3 months after I just stopped having a period! It got worse and worse so switched obgyns asked for hysterectomy and had it done last month. But my situation was different I was already having abnormal paps, dysplasyia and other issues. I have 3 kids, I'm 32 and already had a tubal ligation so I had the procedure done more as a preventative method. But its the best thing I've done since my gbypass. I feel better and somewhat back to the person I was before pcos.

The only thing that will guarantee that your periods would stop is to have a complete hysterectomy.   I had a hysterectomy a few years ago but had them leave my ovaries and cervix.  Because of leaving the cervix, there is a very, very small possibility for bleeding since they can't remove all the uterine tissue from it.  However, leaving the cervix does help things in the bedroom.  My ovaries get cysts constantly and so far other than some mild pain I haven't had any problems.  They will have to take them at some point, but since I was only 35 and didn't want to be on hormone replacement they left them in.   I was also told that they may quit functioning on their own since their blood supply would be cut in half with the uterus gone.  I haven't had any bleeding since my surgery.  YAY!

It is a VERY good thing to go discuss your options with the doctor.  At the time of my surgery, I was using the county hospital because my husband was self-employed and had no insurance.  I was amazed that I was still able to tell them, this is how I want it to go down.  I figured I would be at their mercy.  You are the consumer and hysterectomy is still considered an elective surgery.  So, weigh all your options, consider all your issues and do tons of research!  Just like when you decided to have WLS.  :)

Good luck with it.  I know it isn't an easy decision to make, but it was the best decision I ever made.  I got my life back and didn't have to spend any more time in the hospital having transfusions and iron IVs!

I was exactly in your shoes, i have cysts all over my ovaries, bleeding for 11 weeks straight, upside down in pain. I was anemic and i didn't want anymore kids. The big problem for me is that i am only 25. They were telling me almost the same thing, to try the ablation and we will tie your tubes at the same time, but the ablation doesn't guarantee anything. so i put my foot down to wanting a hysterectomy. I didn't want to have to go back in a few months just to have another procedure done, they had already did a pelvic laperoscopy on the 18th. so Friday the 29th i had my hysterectomy, they left my ovaries since they were only causing me pain when i was bleeding and i was so terrified of HRT but they did take my cervix too. I was told that if they leave the cervix in you can still have what they call mini periods, and i really don't want any bleeding at all. I am still in the hospital, Yes it is painful, but i think it will so be worth it, If you have any other questions for me just ask, i have alot of websites too that might be able to help you make your decision.
