Teresa, I too Have PCOS  I just had my surg on Mon. However  I tried for 15 years to get pregnant with no luck  I only had three periods not induced by meds from 18 until I turned 23,none since,  After my father passed I got rid of a lot of baggage and 76 poundes.  I had been on Glucophage for 10 years, clomid  with no help.  When I lost my weignt my doctor they have had success using birth control for about 9 mo then rying the clomid while still on the glucophage.  We tried it and i was pregnant  the second month.  It was the best blessing I have ever gotten.  Don't give up.   Samantha is a beautiful 3 years old that wants a sibling,( I am 40) another story.

I have had at least 12 friends in same boat as we are, everyone except me had the surgery before being preg.

You are in my prayers

RNY on 02/12/09 with
Just wanted to share that i was diagnosed with PCOS 6 years ago and was not able to get pregnant for all 6 of those years (wasnt trying ttc BUT wasnt trying to prevent it either).
I am a few days shy of being 10 months post op (had RNY) and i am now 6 weeks pregnant. Never been pregnant before and i am so extatic.
It is no joke when the dr says that you may become super fertile after WLS (even us PCOSers)
My fiance and i were not ttc and infact i was using the nuva ring and still using the "pull out" method lol
STILL got knocked up haha!!
It can and will happen for you hun, i feel it =)
you're very brave to take such a huge step towards mommyhood by exploring WLS as an option for you.
P.s. i dont recomment going against dr's orders by getting pregnant as early as i did but luckily i was only a couple of lbs shy of goal and pretty stable in my weight loss when it happened, dr is confident that i wont have any added issues simply because ive had weight loss surgery!
SW-236/GW 125- pre pregnancy weight-133 / current weight- 123!!
Defeated PCOS with the help of my RNY & despite being told I couldnt have kids, i am a proud mommy to Bella Rosa =)

Just thought I'd share my story with ya.. to give a little hope.

At 16 I was told I had PCOS and I had to go on BC just to regulate me enough to have normal periods.. at 19 I got pregnant and the Dr told me that my son was my miracle baby and to enjoy every min with him because the likley hood of me getting preg again would be almost impossible due to my weight and the PCOS.. In 2006 I decided I wasnt going to live like this anymore and I was going to have the LapBand surgery and what a success as I had lost about 98 lbs as of 2008 and got my son off to college and was ready to focus on the remainder of my goal.
In 2008 my brother had a stroke at 42 and it scared the dickens out of me, a few months later I was getting this numbness in my hands and I had no idea what was causing it I went to the Dr thinking I was going to end up like my brother and I demanded they do some test to find out why they were going numb.. He called me back 2 days later and told me that he had some good and even beter than good news ...  I was thinking what can be good I'm having painful numbness in my hands at night.. He said well good news is your not having a stroke and the even better news is your 6mths pregnant. I DROPPED THE PHONE.

I now have a 20 yr old son in college and a beautiful 14mth old girl. Talk about starting your life over..But I wouldnt change a thing..

You do whats best for you and your health and you will be rewarded for that in many ways..
GOD BLESS and Good Luck

New on this site my mom gave me a pamphlet about it...she got the lap band about 2 years ago and has been very sucessful. I'm not really looking into get the surgery my doc thinks I can lose the weight easier since I'm younger but that the lap band can be my last option if nothing else works. I'm just really struggling cause I have insulin resistance with the pcos so I pretty much only crave carbs and sweets. My husband and I have been trying almost 2 years before we found out what was wrong I too feel like a failure...my poor hubby is pretty sad about the whole situation. I recently came across a website for a more natural approach to pcos cause all my doc did was give me ocella and told me to lose weight and then she will put me on clomid...I was not happy with this approach at all. The site is insulitelabs.com I have read many reviews both off and on the site and it sounds promising so I ordered it and hope to get it in a few days. I was wondering if anyone has tried it? I was doing the south beach diet but it was super hard...Is there a easier diet that doesn't completely cut the carbs and is simple to follow? Thanks!

hi, i just wanted to reply, and tell you i am in the same boat as you, i got married in august, and have been trying to conceive since then, my bmi is 41.1, i have pcos and i am insulin resistant. My doctor took me off birth control and metformin, to try and conceive, i tried that for 5 months, and i didnt get a period for those 5 months. I am now back on birth control, and still haven't had my period(first month being back on), i am not taking my metformin, untill i get my first weigh in, i have to do the 6 months diet thing, so my doctor didnt want me to take it, and loose weight when it wasnt being recorded. I have my first meeting with the nurse practioner next week, i still haven't decided if i want the band or RNY. I heard that the band is better for someone who wants to get pregnant in the future.

I wish you luck!!!
