Hey there!  I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and apparently have blindly been dealing witht his for quite some time but...there has always been something else to blame the symptoms on.  I have made the shoice to get the  RnY bypass and am scheduled on Nov 5th.  Anyone had surgery recently?  How are you feeling what do I have to look for ward to and what were your challeges with the surgery and the post surgical areas of dealing with PCOS?
Thanks  Megs

my symptoms all went away for the first 7 months after surgery and then suddenly they were back with a vengence. hope you have better luck. also pcos tends to slow the weight loss for many.

I had my surgery jan and started with really bad symptoms of pcos in mar. Since then i've had a lot of other issues and yes pcos slows down your weight loss very dramatically. I lost fairly well in the beginning but now I am having trouble even losing a couple pounds. I eat my protein, take my vitamins and supplements and workout profusly and still have problems with losing. Don't want to discourage you but pcos really sucks and makes it harder to lose weight. Oh and all the co morbidities that I had prior to wls I still have because of pcos.

I am 8 weeks out and I've lost 30 lbs. It's very slow. I still have my PCOS symtoms. I HATE my facial hair...it sucks and makes me feel ugly. I went to my GYN yesterday and she said I will always have PCOS. It never goes away.

Hi, I'm new here...but not new to PCOS.  I had a dermoid cyst removed in '05....experienced slight infertility  in '06 but conceived within 6 months w/ Metformin and delivered a healthy boy in 07....experienced alot of hair loss during and after the pregnancy....I still shed from time to time....I have a really hard time losing weight with traditional methods.  It's very frusterating.  I have a horrible family history of diabetes, heart disease, DDD, arthritis, etc, etc, etc....

I want to be healthy, but I fear more hair loss and difficulty losing weight.  I am considering the band b/c the risks of bypass scare me....and I may not be done having children and want to be able to provide my body with the nutrients and the band provides that flexibility...My baby took a lot from my body.

I am looking to get started with everything after the first of the year--insurance!.  Any advice?
