Help! I've had my period since AUGEST!
Calling all girlies!
I am sixteen years old and got my period the first time when I was thirteen. I have PCOS obviously, and I usually only got my period about once a year. I had a cyst removed from my flopian tube this past year, and began getting my periods every other month. My most recent period started late augest and it hasn't gone away yet! Also, I get A LOT of large clots within the first week of my period. Have any of you ever had this? Is it related to having PCOS? Is it urgent?? I have never been to a GYN, and really don't want to go to one. Help????

There could be several things going on...it could be completely PCOS related. It could also be Thyroid related. I had a period for about 3 months until they figured out my Thyroid was out of balance. Either way you definitely need to see a GYNO as soon as you can so they can stop this period with provera and either regulate you with cycles of provera for 10 days each month or with birth control pills. I have found that once they regulated me with the provera cycles, that my softball sized clots have dwindled down to bottle cap sized clots. Whatever GYNO you choose will need to know all the details because more than likely your iron levels may be out of wack from being on a period for so long. Good luck.
I would talk to a doctor. Maybe even at least your primary care physician. You could be loosing lots of iron having bled this long!!! Iron deficiencies make you lethargic and tired. ARe you feeling like that? I would NOT even consider a clinic. You need a GYN. I know it's scarry. Maybe a friend can go with you? You will feel so much better knowing facts about what is going on than stressing about things you don't know for sure.
Since my surgery in April 2009, I get excessive periods lasting over a month at a time. Also large blood clots with heavy bleeding. It does really mess things up for me and my hubby. Now, so far Ive had a period since the beginning of October '09, and it's neverending since then, 3 months so far it has lasted. I also take thyroid meds, and it's still not helping. I know my labs for my 9 month post op appt are going to show extreme low levels of iron. I'm very tired all the time and also have been craving sweets all the time because of my period. I sick and tired of it. I'm in the same boat. Just hoping and praying some doctor can help me and get to the bottom of it, I'm concerned I have something really wrong with me.
