Painful Period!

Okay. So I really should be happy that I am having a period this month. I haven't had one since April and before that last October! The only thing I am wishing would go away is the pain. This PCOS sucks and I wish I could just have normal periods with the normal mild cramping that most women get. I have lost 36 pounds now pre-op and I look forward to my RNY surgery in September. I do want my periods to keep up every month because eventually my Hubby and I want to try and concieve. I just hate having to feel so awful.  I have a question for the ladies with PCOS that are post op. How are your periods now? Are they more frequent or regular every month or do you still suffer from amenorrhea? Are they still painful or less painful?

I'm pre-op (hoping for fall surgery) but would ALSO love to know the answer to your question.  I'm hoping that they are less painful and, well,  just plain less alltogether.

Honestly??? You may not want to hear this but they were FAR worse for me after RNY. Even with PCOS I had a normal cycle. I only bled about 3 days though and there was little to no pain. After RNY I thought I was dying.

I bled on average 25 days a month. It seemed to be never ending. The cramping left me in a fetal position and dependent on Oxycontin for almost a year. It was only after having an ablation in March of this year did I return to any semblance of normalcy.

Obviously I am one of the *weird* ones. LOL

I hope things go better for you than me!

I am only 3 months out, but after a month out I had a period, and it has been like clock work every since. I am now on the pill, so we will see what happens.

FYI...My cramps are still HORRIBLE. I am sorry to tell you, but its the truth. I only take over the counter stuff though, and it seems to help as long as I take it every 3 hours....and not a minute after. lol
