So far, so good!!
Hi Ladies!!
(I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you're all ladies... since, well, men don't generally have PCOS )
I was banded just barely three weeks ago..... and today I started my first period since.
To be honest, I had NO IDEA it was coming..... I didn't get the usual cramps or "*****ies" or anything!!!!
Pre-surgery, my periods were HELLLLLL (as I'm sure many of you can relate). The damn cysts would flare up... to the point where I had five seperate trips to the Emergency room in the past 12 months. My periods were so bad that I could not get out of bed without loading up on Demerol... they seriously controlled my life during "that time of the month."
I hate to sound like a drama queen... but I'm not exaggerating at all, unfortunately. They got progressively worse and worse as I gained more and more weight..... and thanks to the insulin resistance, it was damn near impossible to lose any of the weight. :(
Anyway.... I was just kinda excited to have a NORMAL period for the first time in over two years.... and a little baffled as to why things got easier so quickly after surgery. I've lost about 27lbs total... I'm hoping the weight loss is what's made the difference.
How has WLS affected your PCOS? I'd love to know!! :)
