15 1/2 Months Post Op and TTC
Hello Everyone!
I have some questions and hopefully you'll have some answers. I had RNY almost 16 months ago and I have lost 133 pounds. I have been off the Nuvaring since February and we are TTC. Last month I used Clomid and responded well. There were 2 eggs and my progesterone level was 65. They gave me the shot to release the eggs. However, my uterus lining wasn't as thick as the Dr. would like. My period was 5 days late but no pregnancy. This month I took Femara and I now have 6 eggs. My uterus lining is thicker than last month. The Dr. would not give me the shot because he said that when the eggs release the space would fill with a hormonal fluid and it could cause a lot of pain and it could make me very sick. I go in next week for the progesterone test. We are "practicing" everyday for the next 5 days . I also have PCOS. I have an 11 year old son so I know that its possible, but I am getting discouraged. Can anyone offer some advice? Has anyone had a similar situation?

Hi,
I have PCOS and have been on Clomid in the past, but my doc never supervised like this and I was not able to have the HCG shots to release eggs because he was not trained to give them. We were about to start injectable fertility drugs when we found out we were PG! At 19 months out things just worked out on their own. Our DS is 7 so again I can understand your frustration in the waiting.
I can't offer advice on the HCG shots but just wanted you to know that you're right to say it's possible.
Also, if you haven't already, try the Pregancy After WLS forum on here, too. There are many ladies TTC after WLS and lots of ladies that have gone through many fertility treatments. It's a very supportive board.
Best of luck!
Alison

Hi VP,
I AM A HUUUUUUGE FAN OF FEMARA!!!!!!!!! I never tried clomid, but on my first round I tried one round of Femara along with the trigger shot and nothing happened. Along wPCOS I have a blocked right tube w a powerful right ovary and an open left tube with a weak and polycystic left ovary- so we thought our only chance was ivf.
The second month, I took the femara, but actually cancelled the ultrasound to see the size of my follies and decided not to try- we"d instead wait until the 3rd month, so I never even took the trigger shot since we werent trying. Low and behold weeks later I find out that I'm pregnant... while not even trying. We only bd on cd 10 and 17. And I know it was all because of the femara.
Oh and since I was diagnosed w PCOS as a pre-teen, I also asked my RE to start me back on the metformin. I started back on that around the time i started the 2nd round of femara.
SO for those of us with pcos and ttc, I am a big fan of the use of metformin and femara together- I am pregnant for the first time in my life. I wish you the best in your journey!!!!!
