Nuvaring and Surgery

 So, I'm on the Nuvaring and it's set so that I change it every three weeks and get a period every 2 1/2 months (periods are very intense and painful for me so i take 1000mg of metformin and nuvaring) Anyway, my question is whether or not it has to be taken out for surgery. This would be a problem if i was nearing the end of the 2 1/2 month's because my period would automatically start. Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't have experience with Nuvaring but I've heard surgery triggers your period anyway and to be prepared for that when you go to the hospital.
