Introducing Me...

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Sia and I have had PCOS for quite a long time. It has been quite a road with myriad rocks (as you are all quite aware of). I finally came to the conclusion that something had to change when I had over eight miscarriages. I've grown tired of struggling and the impetus of feeling free, for once in my life, since puberty is the motivation that I needed to pursue the DS. I'm 32 and it's so time. It's been long over due. I'm tentatively looking to be scheduled for surgery on the 27th or 30th of April and well, I'm just looking forward to learning from you guys as I embark this surgery!

Good luck with your surgery. I too have had PCOS pretty much since I first got my period. I am not even a month out since my surgery so I have yet to know if there will be any changes to my period or not. We shall see.
Beginning Weight = 250
Surgery Weight = 229.1

Hello Sia!

I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago, and now that I'm almost four months out from DS surgery, I can definitely tell that my PCOS symptoms are getting better.  I have a normal period now without the need for birth control pills, my dark patches of skin are A LOT lighter and my excess hair is a lot less noticeable.

I'm sorry for all your troubles with PCOS and I really hope the DS helps you!

I don't know if I am fertile yet (not quite ready for kids) but I hope that someday I can have a child thanks to my DS.

Oh, Georgina!! Thank you so much for letting me know how DS has helped alleviate your PCOS issues. It's such a b****!  I'm so looking forward to living normally again! I'm so excited about the DS. I feel like it's falling in love for the first time.  Thank you again! This post brightened my day.

Hey sia! I forget to come on this board sometimes..hehe
i've seen you on the DS board though...so here's my offical HI!..."hi." ; )

i was just thinking today about my PCOS symptoms. I've been plucking away at facial hair, and shaving, as usual... and actually there hasn't been a lot of regrowth! that was a nice surprise. I'd heard it could happen, and have been pretty pleased!
I noticed my leg area has lightened up (it was just starting to get dark) though my more "intimate" area is still dark-ish.

my period is still off the wall though, but i've always been super sensitive. Every time i lose weight, or heck, even TRAVEL. (I've stopped a period a DAY into it, because i took 12 hours to drive and fly to visit family. i'm THAT sensitive.) So, today, even though i was a week into a new pack of Birth control, i started old aunt flo ..go fig.
BUT...the symtoms are SO so so SO so SOOO much better than they ever have been! any symptom you could think of to add up to a horrible period i have..and these past couple times have been great...and getting better!

so, those are some nice things i've noticed since WLS : )
something to look forward to!
i even saw the other day that someone on the boards posted that they had a baby!!

i think you're going to be happy, and do great! : )
