I AM so glad I am not the only one going threw this!!! OMG!!!  I have had PCOS since I basically started puberty. (Which was at 9yrs old) I never knew what I had until about 4 yrs ago. Im 31 now. I just use to think I was weirder than all my friends. Abnormal periods, and this darn Hair! especially on my face and these dark spots! Im really praying having this surgery that I had will help me with some weightloss. I still have problems with this hair and dark spots. But hopefully they will improve. I lost my uterus in may of 08 because of irregular bleeding or should I say constant bleeding. But Im dealing with it okay I suppose. Would of liked one more child but its okay, I have two wonderful little boys. Tried so many times for a girl! Just wasnt meant to be. But its okay now, Ive got to concentrate on me now and my health. Thats why I decided to have the RNY done. But please if anyone having PCOS would like to talk  or have any questions , message me!  It would be great to talk to some people who are going through the same type of things as I am.

Have you heard of a forum called soul cysters?
That has TONS of information.

Anyway, I have PCOS and what I can tell you is this. Laser will not help you unless your hormones are under control...
I had 15 laser treatments to my upper lip and it didn't help until I got my hormones under control.
All the laser technicians I have talked to have said the same thing.

In addition to suffering from PCOS related hirsuitism, I also suffer from major hair loss isssues (on my head). we just get hair in all the wrong places. In an attempt to regrow this hair, I have recently started taking flutamide. This is a very hardcore medication usually used to treat prostate cancer but has shown to have wonderful results with regrowing hair. It is a very powerful anti-androgen. I have been on it for 6 months now, and while I have yet to notice new hair growth on my head, I have noticed a marked decrease in body hair. It is much sparser, much finer, lighter in color and grows back much more slowly if shaved or waxed.

I have had problems since I was 12 with PCOS and hair under my chin and on my lip.  I used to use a bleach, but that discolored my skin and looked funny.  What I have been using for over 10 years now is Nair, Cream for Face.  It works wonderfully!  I have sensitive skin, but this does not bother it.   I will say that the heavier I got, the thicker my hair got.  The Nair Cream says to keep the cream on for no longer than 10 minutes, but I keep mine on for 20 minutes.  It gets all the thick hairs and leaves your face so soft and hair free!  I don't want to do the pills, because it can mess with other medications, plus I just don't like taking drugs if I can help it.  Hope you try it!  I think you will like it!

i was told at the age of 23 that I had PCOS.  I had the symptoms from about age 16 though.  I have a wonderful doctor now who knows how to treat the PCOS.  I take Metformin (1000mg per day) and Spironolactone (100mg per day).  It took a good 6 months for me to see results with the Spiro, but I've now been taking it for about 5 years and let me tell you it works SO well.

Before meds I had the very dark arm hair (which I used to Nair off), facial hair, baldness, and skin tags.  Today you can barely see the hair on my arms, I very rarely have to wax my upper lip (maybe once very 4 or 5 months), and I don't have a bald spot anymore.  My hair is still thin, but nothing like it used to be.

I highly recommend that you keep searching until you find a doctor that will listen to you.  I went through 3 different GYNs before one finally listened to what I was telling them all along.

Best of luck!

I havent tried anything surgical for the hair, my gyno prescribed both Spirlactonone and Cabergoline for me one of them was for the hair problem, he said it would take about a year to really do much good, 6 months to even see if it was helping at all...
well it has helped some, i still have some whiskers, but i no longer have a patch of under chin hair, i have about 6 whiskers groing from one spot, and about 12 random ones instead of needing to use an epilator or shaving i can now pluck with tweazers, ive also lost 197 since my wls and my dark patches are going away in some areas as well (my neck, around my mouth, in the fat rolls that are gone (still under the ones that are hanging around but im hopeful at least about the future)

hope this might help someone else
the Cabergolne is .5 mg taken as half a pill twice a week or .25 twice a week)
the Spiralactone is 50mg daily
I think the  Spiralctone is the one he said was for the hair, i looked it up online and its the only one that mentions hair growth, but check with your physician.
Wyldethang I LOVE my RNY!!!  Magick Happens, just BELIEVE! Namaste

Hey all - I also have PCOS. I couldn't handle the metformin or glucophage that I was prescribed. It made it almost impossible to handle with a full time job. The bathroom was practically my office. I've been off it 7 or 8 years and waxing my under chin and upper lip. I also use tweezers like crazy. I have them everywhere. bathroom, purse, car, night stand. I hope this embarrassing problem will go away after surgery. I feel so dirty with the dark skin patches I am constantly cleaning around my neck 2 to 3 times a day.

i really wish you would have asked before you read my autobiography to everyone on OH. My gosh i have lost 105 pounds, and the one thing that hurts me to my heart is this facial hair, and then i did the laser surgery thing as well. horrible results. on the skin, i am african american and i have thes bloches on my chin and neck and side of my face. can anyone say hair grows like a full beard. i hate it. it causes all kinds of emotional stress has anyone come across anything that would help kill this hair on the face and body. it really bothers me when trying to be intimate with my someone special and his hands touches my face. i cringe. he is polite and ignores it but my mind wont let me relax like i hope to.
