OK I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS SITE. I HAVE TALKED WITH SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE SO FAR I CANT BELIEVE IT. I AM ALSO GLAD THAT I HAVE A PLACE WHERE I CAN COME AND TALK ABOUT MY PROBLEMS WITHOUT BEING ASHAMED.

SO HERE IT GOES BACK IN 1996 OR 1997 I WAS DIAGNOSED AND ITS BEEN A STRUGGLE EVER SINCE. FIRST I WENT TO EVERY HOSPITAL IN CHICAGO THAT YOU CAN THINK OF EXCEPT COOK CONTY. I TRIED TO STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLACE AT ALL COST BECAUSE OF THE LONG WAITS. HOWEVER EVERY PLACE I WENT SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH ME. NOW MIND YOU I WAS GOING 2 AND 3 MONTHS WITH A PERIOD AND HEAVY BLEEDING AT THAT. SO ONE DAY I BROKE DOWN AND WENT TO THE COUNTY AND THEY RAN ALL KINDS OF TEST. WHEN I LEFT THE NEXT DAY I TOLD ME I HAD PCOS. NO THEY HAVE ME ALL KINDS OF DOC APPTS. AND I WENT TO EVERYONE THEY HAVE ME EVERY KINDA OF BIRTH CONTROLL TRYING TO MAKE ME REGULAR. THAT NEVER HAPPEN.

I ENDED UP TAKING THE MEDS SO LONG THEY STARTED MAKING ME SICK. THIS WENT ON FOR SOME YEARS. AND ON 12/26/05 IT JUST STOPPED. I HAVE NOT HAD A PERIOD SINCE.. I DONT MIND THAT AT ALL WHAT I DO MIND IS ALL THIS DARN HAIR IN MY FACE ON MY ARMS AND LEGS AND UNDER MY CHIN. THAT IS A MESS. THEN YOU GET THESE DARK SPOTS ALL OVER. WHAT CAN  I DO? ARE YOU GUYS DEALING WITH THIS AS WELL?

I ACTUALLY LET A DERM DOC.TALK ME IN TO HAVING LAZER TREATMENT AND THAT ONLY MAD IT WORST. LORD HAVE MERCY ON ME SOMETIMES MY OUT BREAKS ARE SO BAD I AM ASHAMED TO GO OUT WITH MY FRIENDS. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THEY WONT TALK ABOUT ME BUT I KNOW HOW NASTY SOME PEOPLE ARE.

SO HOW ARE YOU GUYS DEALING WITH THIS AND THE HAIR?

You just said my life story minus not knowin what was wrong I got diagnosed really young and back when Polly was not well knowen so I was SOL. I was put on BC and that only made things worse. The hair OMG I wish I was bald like my grandfather and uncles and boy cousins. I finally had enough and went into my doc and said I wasn't leavin untill she helpped me (she is a very close family friend so I can joke with her like that) she perscribed Vaniqua (spellin?) which is a cream for hair growth it is expensive and most insurances don't cover it and you have to make sure you use it daily and twice a day or it will come back and thicker and then she also put me on Spolactine (spellin) which is a oral pill for hair growth. It has been a month since I have waxed I have done some maintance pluckin but its been amonth since I've waxed and by the time I will wax it will be closer to 2 months. I have noticed a difference and I hope that after surgry that my polly will change. one thing that discourages me is that I have heard the facial hair don't go away and that the pills and cream may stop workin :( time will tell. I know not very encouragin but you asked for what we do. Hope that helps a little

I feel so crazed about my hair growth...........I just get tired of waxing. The spots are horrible. I feal like my skin is being discolored due to the hair bumps. I want to ask about your wls surgery and the PCOS. did your insurance cover u because u had pcos? I ask becuase I am at a bmi of 47, with out comorbities. but i do have the pcos and insomnia but not sure if this is enough for approval. the suspense is killing me.

I believe PCOS is a co-morbid. And at a BMI of 47, you may not have problems with approval even w/o comorbids. I know what you mean about the suspense--that was the hardest part of the process for me.

I don't know if you are askin me or not but I will put my 2 cents in.
I have a higher BMI but no other health issues and my insurance never told me y they approved me they just did but I have no doubt in my mind that my Polly helped me get approved. And yes I take Metformin and I am on 1,000 mg a day and it has helped I feel

i was just wondering how u last taking 1000mg of metformin. that drug is tough on the stomach and i have tried taking 3 differant times. each of those times i stop taking the medication, my dose got increased up to 1500mg i think. i was so weak and tired from all of the runs to the restroom. i also have the facial hairs, but i am living with it i guess. i was told that the metformin would help with the facial hair, but i have yet to stay on the medication long enough...lol

my next concern is with this pcos, i am hoping when im ready to have kids its not going to be too hard to concieve. i only get a period like 2 or 3 times for the year. i just finish taking the generic of the provera and i should have gotten my period by now. my doc wants me back on the birthcontrol to get my periods regular again, she is concern over time i will get cancer by not having a period every month.

...holy hannah, it is so nice to see that I am not the only person dealing with these issues. All I can say is that I have to laugh as I sit and read your blog, (while I am waxing my darn face) sigh............
I do not want to take any drugs. Previously I had taken the spirolactin. I do not have any children and I am hoping to have them one day, god willing, and it better be quick cause I will be turning 40 this June. I remember with the spirolactin that you need to make sure that you are not trying to have children while on this, it would cause problems. That just turned me off of wanting to take it.
I feel also, my face is mashed up from all the waxing and picking or plucking.
That is what I will continue to do. Wax, I really dont know about the lazer. It is expensive and from what I read it does not necessarily work if it is a hormonal issue.
Have any of you with POCS had success with Lazer Hair removal?

God Bless all of us.
Vicki
