Successstory

I was diagnosed with PCOS in october 2008 but who knows i have had it before being diagnosed. Anyway I have been experiencing extreme dry hair that no matter how much oil, hair grease, conditioner, moisterizer I put in it seems to get dry a day or two later. Lately I have been losing hair it seems a lot. I haven't been to the salon lately but I think I may need to see a dermatologist. Also I loss most of my hair from the middle. It is driving me crazy.

I as well have PCOS and so does one of my good friends her hair did the same things that yours is doing but they found out she was lacking B vitamins.

May my Angles rest in peace.....

I've been diagnosed with PCOS since 15. I'm 23 now, and I can tell you the the hair loss in the middle region of your scalp is textbook. Some women, however don't experience hair loss; but hair growth in unwanted areas. I myself am (i hate saying it) balding in the middle region of my scalp and have excruciatingly dry hair too. A vitamin deficiency might be the cause, but I doubt it. PCOS is a hormone deficiency, targeting high levels of both testosterone and estrogen. It throws our bodies out of whack. In my opinion, I would speak to an endicrinologist before a dermatologist. She/He may know better.

Best of luck,

Hello!  I have PCOS and when I was tested I had high levels of testosterone.  I had very thin hair on the top of my head.  It really bothered me being that I am a young lady and feel hair is important. My doctor put me on birth control and on spirolatone (sp?).  Spriolatone is an androgen blocker and ever since I started taking it, my hair has gotten thicker and seems to be less frizzy.  You may want to ask your doctor about that.  I  hope you have a great day!
