Hi --
I've never posted on this board before, but wanted to see if I could get some feedback.  To give you a little background, I first had surgery scheduled for 11/10/08.  After the first 5 days of my preop liquid diet, I started hemorrhaging after not having a cycle for 5 months.  Also, my brother who is terminally ill went into the hospital and I decided to postpone my surgery until things settled down a bit.  Due to my insurance, I switched GYN, and she is the first person who has mentioned PCOS to me.  I am still waiting for bloodwork to come back to confirm the diagnosis, but after everything I've read, it resonates true with me.  She suggested an endometrial ablation, and I am scheduled to have it done on Monday (12/15).  She thinks it may help with the  bleeding as I begin losing weight..
Has anyone else had this procedure done, and what's your experience with it?

Hello, I've had endometrial abalation done. It was a fairly easy procedure to have. Just a day surgery.  Had to rest a couple days and no lifting over 10 lbs for a couple weeks. I was back to myself about 72hrs after surgery and enjoyed NORMAL bleeding and cramps for about 2.5 yrs. It was a God send.  I put alot of weight on during that time and my PCOS symptoms worsened and I started bleeding heavily and having alot of pain so I ended up having a hystorectomy. Best of luck to you.

I had a uterine ablation in May 08 due to excessive bleeding.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS  since 1984 and always had period issues.
The proceedure in itself was not bad.Under anesthesia of course, the lining of your uterus
is "burned out".There apparently different methods of doing this so check with your MD.Apparently a sensor is involved and the MD is informed how long, how much, is ablated.
I was supplied with pictures of the proceedure. You can see where previously my uterus was pink and post-op gray.Post-op I layed low for a couple of days, mild cramps, little drainage.
7 months out.....I love it!! No more periods, and all the mess that goes with that.
Hope this has been helpful. My best to you!
