PCOS and TTC
Hi,
I was wondering ,I have Pcos and had RNY April 29,2008.My surgeon pulled me off my metformin.I recently started temping to see if I am ovulating. Before surgery,I did not without clomid. Was wondering since i am no longer using met will I have trouble TTC.I am having af regularly, but only light spotting or light flow. Are OPKs or fertility monitors accurate for those of us with Pcos ,what about since losing weight?

I too stopped my Metformin the day before surgery and luckily have not needed to go back on it since my surgery almost 4.5 years ago. Prior to surgery I too never ovulated, but you're lucky...you at least did ovulate with Clomid, I was found to be Clomid resistant as I got to the max doseage with no response. I'm happy to report that once I hit my goal weight of 140lb at 1 year post op I was not only cycling on my own but according to my temps (recorded at fertilityfriend.com) I was ovulating as well! We waited 3 months after I reached goal to finish a medication I was taking for a + TB skin test (but - chest xray) and timed BD with ovulation according to my temps and immediately got pregnant. I had a healthy pregnancy & baby girl. Then earlier this year I temped again and once again timed BD with ovulation and got pregnant immediately again! So far this pregnancy has been a little more difficult (basically I had some spotting in the beginning & due to baby size my back hurts more but that's it) but has been healthy and she'll be here next Monday.
Anyway I've never used the OPKs or fertility monitors, just my temps. But if you want to use them in conjunction with your temps go for it! Good luck!
