Hi Guys,

Is anyone using Ornithine decarboxylase blocker: EFLORNITHINE (VANIQA®)?

Does it work?

Spironolactone isn't working anymore i want to try something different.

 Hi Catnip,
It seems to work pretty well but I haven't given up my tweezers but that might be my own fault.  I think you're supposed to apply it twice a day and I only do once.  I'm not sure how the Canadian pharmacies operate but I know here, I have to shop around because there can be quite a price difference on Vaniqa at the various chains.  I forgot the last time and spend about $80 since it is not covered by insurance.  I think other chains sell it for $60.

I just got my first tube of it about a week ago.  I am trying to remember to use it twice a day, but sometimes I forget one application.  The patient info says that it will take about 4 weeks to start seeing strong results, however, I feel that it has helped the areas on my chin that just grow a hair or two already.

It was $65 for me, I got it at Target.  I know there aren't Targets in Canada, but for the other PCOSers out there in the states, Target does price match other pharmacies (Costco is usually cheapest) - I just forgot to shop around before I got mine.

I am really hoping it works.  I am so sick of the beard!

It didnt work for me, neither did Spiro or laser treatments. Good luck.

Laser didn't work for you?  I was on Spiro for years along with trying other things... I had a thick full beard/mustache and find the only thing that has helped is the laser treatments.  I have had to go every 6 weeks for the past year and a half but now I only go once a year and a few times for electrolysis here and there.  Anyway, you're the first person I've heard this from.

I hope you have a great Christmas Season!
