I WENT TO THE PSYCH DOCTOR YESTERDAY AND TOLD HER ABOUT PCOS AND SHE ASKED ME WHAT WAS USED TO TREAT IT AND I TOLD HER THEY WANTED ME ON BIRTH CONTROL PILLS AND I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THEM SO NOTHING ELSE WAS OFFERED. SHE SAID I SHOULD SEE AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST FOR TREATMENT ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS...I JUST THOUGHT IT MEANT I DONT GET MY PERIOD SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. SHE SAID THE TREATMENT MIGHT CAUSE ME TO LOOSE WEIGHT SO I SHOULD CHECK INTO THAT BEFORE SURGERY BUT MY SURGERY DATE IS NOV 17TH. DO YOU THINK IT'S WORTH IT??

The previous poster is right.  PCOS is much more than just not having a period.  It's an endocrine disorder that effects more than just fertility and those types of hormones.  It also effects insulin & glucose.  I too suggest seeing an Endocrinologist and maybe starting Metformin to help get the insulin under control as insulin resistance is VERY common in PCOSers.  GL with your upcoming surgery too!

Oh...and another good website to check out is www.soulcysters.com GL!
