Hello everyone Im 30 and was diagnosed with pcos about 8 yrs ago. i had RNY june 2 after my obgyn asked i fihad considered it.  So I have noticed some slight imporvemnt on the facial hair ( thank goodness it bothered me more than the weight at times) but my question is about  a monthly cycle.  I am on depoprovera and I know people have no cycle due to that but with my body changing am i now gonna get my friend ever . I havent had one in about 4-5 years.  I think the depo will keep it at bay but wantd to see what anyone out  there experienced.  I used to get a short one about the time my shots were due but that was years ago.

I know a lot of people ou there wit PCOS are trying to concieve and would love to have a monthly visitor but honestly I dont want  to give birth ever and if i ever decide to have children am more than willing to adopt a child whos here already and needs a loving home.   So with that do you think i could convince my DR to snip and clip?  I have asked before but they dont like tying tubes if your young, single, and no kids.  My surgery has not changed my mind .

Thanks,
AMY

Hey Amy.  I also have PCOS, and do not want children.  I am 35, and have felt this way for atleast 6 years.  I have tried since I was 28-29 years old to get them to tie my tubes.  I have a stepson, and that is good enough for me.  I know it sounds awful, but my husband and I just don't want kids.  They always said that I was to young, and since I haven't had any children they would not do it.  I haven't tried in the last couple years, maybe they would now.  So, I would surely ask if they would if that is what you want.  As far as the Depo shot, I took it one time when I was about 28, it made me crazy!!!!!       I was an emotiomal mess!!   So, I can't help you much with that I am sorry.  But, if you don't want children then I think getting your tubes tied is a smart decision.  I would try to stress the fact that you do have PCOS, and that might help convince the Dr. Good Luck!!   Cindy

i fully support your decision to have your tubes tied if you don't want children.  it's not for everyone.  i knew since i was in high school that i didn't want kids and i,  like you, feel strongly about adoption.  keep pursuing it; you will find the right doctor for the procedure but it may take some time.

Because of my pcos i sometimes wouldn't have a period for 4 years.  i had to get on bc before surgery and they didn't want me taking oral meds so it was either depo or nuva ring.  i chose the depo and i really regret it.  i get my period every 2 months now and it lasts 3 weeks.  guess i'm making up for lost time!  unlike you, i do want children.  that's one reason why i had wls.  i think you're plenty old enough to decide to get a tubal so keep doc hunting.  you'll find one that will do it.

Hello, I am 2 days away from my RNY, and very excited. I have PCOS, and am the picture of it! I have diabetes, had infertility, and in Dec 2008, had a hysterectomy and found out that  I had stage 1 adenocarcinoma of the endometrium. My OB-Gyn told me that when periods are missed, and estrogen is not opposed by progersteron, that cancer can occur. I am only 50! Be sure to keep this in mind, and find out all you can to protect yourselves-PCOS is to be respected! doxiwoman ps. please say a prayer for me on Oct. 29, thanks
