Me? Melissa is my name, don't wear it out *grin* I had the dodenal switch, on June 3 this year (only 5 weeks out!) I had it because i wanted to prevent type II diabetes that runs heavily in my family, and to fix co-morbidities like PCOS, and joint problems. I wanted to be healthy & live to a ripe old age with my healthy hubby.
I live in Southern California, but grew up in northern, have lived in Washington and Oregon, and Hoping to move to Idaho!
At OH i chat up the DS board, the lightweights board, and the PCOS board.
Right now i'm a records clerk at a police department...totally interesting work...the cops are hard to handle sometimes (big little boys!) and am currently contimplating a change in career.....
New question for me (i know i started it, but anyway) What pets, if any, do you have?
My hubby and i have a beagle dog names Daisy, a cat named Nermal, and two huge fish tanks...one with sal****er reef fish, and the other freshwater : )
Your turn!!!

Hi all. Im Sunny. I am going to have the bypass soon. I am having WLS, because pcos took over my body back in 2000 and it hasnt let go. I have co-mobidities, that get inflamed by my weight. Especially PCOS. My husband and I live in Wa State. I am from Seattle and he is from Ohio/Kentucky area. I belong to Wa State forum, bmi over 50, Fibromyalgia, and PCOS boards. I am a SAHW/disabled wife. We have 1 dog and 5 cats. My dogs name is Bandana. Our cats name are Pickles, Tomato, Onions, Echo and Sesame. My hubby had 4 cats and I had my pup and kitty when we met.
Your question: Have you had love at 1st sight???
HI SUNNY!! Nice to meet you! Of course, being on this board, i've also suffered many things from good old PCOS. Currently, after my surgery, it's the mood swings from the release of estrogen...but other than that things have finally been going well at only 5.5 weeks out of surgary. you'll be there eventually!!!
What made you decide on the Gastric Bypass? I have a lot of info on my page about PCOS and diabetes. My mom woke up from her surgery 9 months ago and was no longer diabetic after 14 years of being so!! WLS is the best answer for a lot of us! : )
Nice to meet you!
Oh btw i used to live in WA state too! over by castle rock and silver lake, near kelso and longview. been to seattle a few times though. i LOVE washington. i hope i can retire there someday.
What is sahw disabled mean? i'm so nieve sometimes, i'm sorry!!

Hi there. SAHW disabled is turned around. Im a disabled SAHW. I am a stay at wife. I decided on GB a while ago. I was signed up before, but dropped after waiting over 2 1/2 years. I decided to sign up again when I met my DH, little over 2 years ago. He had it 5 or so years ago. He knew what I was going thru and I had the support I needed. I am playing the waiting game again. Argh! That is great you are doing well after WLS.
I will check your page out.
Question: Favorite colors?
So, who are you? Kristy
What surgery did you have? lap RNY
How long ago? 4 years on 8/3
Why did you have it? In all honesty...to have kids. I'd gone through 8 years of failed fertility treatments before I had surgery. Getting healthy in my mind was just a perk.
What state do you live in? California
What other forums here at OH do you chat at? Post op Pregnancy board...seeing as I'm prego now with my 2nd post op baby.
What do you do for a living? I'm a hospital unit clerk in an Emergency Room, and a mom, and a student (working towards my RN)
What pets, if any, do you have? Oh lordy...3 cats (Trixie, Oreo & Tony), 2 fish (George II & Fred), 2 dogs (Rosie & Deogie...pronounced D-O-G...yeah...real original huh?
Have you had love at 1st sight??? Love? No...but it didn't take long. Met my DH when I was 16...dated on & off for almost a year, then got serious and was exclusive since my senior year of HS. We've been married now almost 12 years.
What's your favorite color? Yellow
My question now...what's the one thing you miss/will miss after surgery most? For me...milk. I love milk but can't tolerate more than 2oz at one time.
So, who are you? Deb
What surgery did you have? RNY
How long ago? 9 Months! - surgery in Oct 2007
Why did you have it? To lose weight! :) No really, I wanted to be able to experience life, I wanted to head off diabetes before it showed up, and I wanted to get pregnant. PCOS kept me from losing weight on my own or with any other medications, but WLS made it happen!
What state do you live in? Currently - North Caronlia. But I am a born and raised Wisconsin Cheesehead
What other forums here at OH do you chat at? NC, RNY, Recipes, Oct 2007, sometimes the Main Forum and I am lurking on the Pregnancy board and the Graduates board
What do you do for a living? Teach piano and voice lessons
Do you have any pets? 2 Dogs - Black labs - Shadow (6 years old) and Spirit (1 year old) - they're my babies
Have you had love at first sight? No, although I was attracted to my DH when I first saw him (my freshman year of high school.) But it wasn't love.
Favorite Colors? Hmmm, that's tricky. If I had to choose one, I'd probably say blue.
What do you miss after surgery the most? Drinking. Not like I did much before, but in a social environment when all my friends are drinking a martini, I sure want one. And when we go to a hockey game and I'm surrounded by people drinking cold bear, I sure would like one! :) Dr said I should wait a year, and even after that I'm sure I will really pick and choose the occassions. (not worth the calories in most cir****tances.) - Other than that, I'm able to tolerate most foods (even if I can only have a bite), so I'm pretty good!
What "little thing" was most exciting for you/are you most looking forward to after WLS? I love not worrying about fitting into things. The little plastic lawn chairs, booths, and most fun...amusement park rides!
Next?
My name is Sheryl, I had RNY on 8/22/2002 and I reserched it for 2 years prior to that. I finally decided to have RNY because I was having so many health issues and they were getting worse and worse. My OB/GYN told me that if I didn't do something drastic I would probably not see my 50th birthday (I'm 45 now). Thank God I listened to her. I currenly live in North Carolina but was raised in San Diego California, and spent 7 years in Oregon. I am a 911 dispatcher and work nights (I also worked in the records division in Southern California for a while, hmmmm... do I know you??? lol)...
To answer your question.. I have 9 hens & 2 roosters (Laverne & Shirley, Thelma & Louise, Lucy & Ethel, Rachael & Ray, and Rudy), 3 koi fish (we just call them Koi oi oi oi oi's... lol!), 2 indoor cats (Nibby & Maddy), 2 cocateils (Petey & Tweeter) and 1 fiance' (Rex)... lol!
My question is: What is one thing that you have discovered about yourself after WLS that surprizes you... (The thing that surprizes me most is that I am now kind of a thrill seeker, I like doing things that make my adrenalin pump... I used to play it safe on most things.. but now I take chances, not on everything, and have found that it's a lot more fun!).
Have a great day!!!
Sheryl
Love at first site... Not really... Before WLS I didn't date much, 6 weeks after WLS I moved to San Diego and went a little wild and dated a TON of guys, I had a BLAST... But it got old fast. Then I moved back to NC and bam, there he was, almost in my back yard (well actually I knew him from work). Rex is a retired Firefighter on Camp Lejeuene where I am a 911 dispatcher. I met him years ago and after my WLS I moved away for 3 years and we just lost touch. When I moved back to NC I sent him a card and said to give me a call and maybe we could go have a cup of coffee... Next thing I know it's 2 years later and we're engaged.. whoo hoo!!!
Favorite color: PINK!!! Definately Pink!
What was that other question? Ugh! Old timers setting in...
