I have been a member here for over a year now and finally have gotten the nerve to post.  I had Open RNY April 9th, 2007 and have so far went from 365lbs to 215lbs.  I have been in ond out of a plateau off and on but weight loss is harder and slower.  I have been struggling with PCOS since I was diagnosed as a teen and infertility for the past 14 years.  My long time fiance and I just got married this past April and now the push is on (as I feel for the baby issue). I am 36 in July and I feel that I am running out of time.  I get so frustrated at times and depressed as we both want children badly.  My facial hair seemed to slow right down after surgery in the beginning.  I was shaving 2x a day and after surgery it was like every day and a half.  Now I am up to every morning again and by evening I have the 5 o'clock shadow.  My first cycle after surgery was BRUTAL 3 WEEKS long and Heavy.  Before surgery it was like every 3-4 months.  Then once the inital 3 weeker ended I was on the pill and everything normal as with the pill until August.  Then I went off the pill and they were coming every 36 days like clock work.  Now since the wedding in April (my last cycle) I have had nothing.  Took tests, one last night and negative.  WHAT IS UP????  Does it get better???  I am currently not taking any meds and using no protection. I am up to any suggestions, any advice is welcome.  Sorry it is so long!!!

It could get better, with some more weight loss. Unfortunately WLS for most people only puts PCOS into remission, and it rears it's ugly head once again after the initial weight loss stops or slows dramaticaly. I have a lot of info on PCOS and weight loss surgery on my profile page. Kinda gotta riffle through some stuff to get to it though *grin* i'm wordy girl!
you may want to consider a revision, or a new diet plan. I know neither one of those sounds great, but it's only the weight loss that pushes aside the PCOS for a while. I just had my surgery and haven't seen any good benifits yet, but i'm still sorta early out. I'm happy to see that it did lighten up for you though!! At least you know there IS something out there that really CAN help! You can also make an appointment with an endochronologist. They are really up on this whole PCOS thing and getting pregnant!!

I have not had my surgery yet but I do have PCOS. Mellissa is right go and see an endocrinologist. The will tell you what is up with yoru horomone levels. And I would also recommend to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. They specialize in women with PCOS and fertility issues.  Feel free to contact me one here....or email me at [email protected]
