VSG on 08/29/08 with
i'm having surgery osoon and I hear a lot of you saying that you get very fertile after surgery.. I have PCOS and thats the main reason I'm getting this surgery.. but I dont want to get pregnat right away I want to wait and enjoy my new skinny life.  currently i'm taking Junel 1/20 because it helps me to get my period. Do anyone know of a better birth control method after surgery ("and no, not having sex is not a option"! :D)  My hubby is coming from Iraq 4 months after surgery and I'm really scared of getting pregnat, I dont want any complications plus like I said before, want to enjoy the new body... Thanks!

Since you're having the VSG you should be ok with continuing the pill as there's no malabsorption with that surgery.  Your best bet though would be to double check with your surgeon. Good luck & I hope your hubby stays safe in Iraq!!

I tried several forms, including the only orally chewable pill, a birth control patch, the nuvaring, and then mirena iud. It took a few months to even out with the mirena but so far I like it a lot.

The pill is fine after VSG.  However - for me - it caused my weight loss to stop.  I did 1 pack of pills and lost no weight for almost 2 months!  Once I stopped the pill, my weight loss started again.  I am back to my old non-hormonal standby, the diaphragm.
