PCOS and VSG
I was originally considering the RNY but am now looking seriously at the sleeve (VSG). Has anyone here who has had the sleeve comment on how it has affected their PCOS, symptoms, etc.
Ditto for RNY people.
Of course, Lapbanders and DS post-ops may want to comment on their progress too, though I have decided that a Band and Switch are not for me. However, it could help someone else considering one of those 2 procedures to know how their PCOS is doing...
TIA

Hi Cindy! Welcome to OH. My name is Miki, I'm 23 and I have PCOS. Before I had surgery, I never had a period unless it was brought on by medications such as BCP or provera. I went through 7 rounds of clomid to try to get pregnant with no luck. I had the sleeve done on March 17th in hopes that drastic weight loss would help my infertility.
Here I am, almost 3 months later and I'm pregnant. I've lost 70 pounds from my heighest weight and I feel amazing! I realize that getting pregnant so soon out of surgery is not ideal, but I'm running with it. But please don;t think I'm condoning it.
So, I hope this gives you hope. My doctor thought I would never get pregnant naturally do to the severity of my PCOS. Also, the dark patches that I've had forever are gone. Good luck!!!!

I had the VSG, and since then, my PCOS symptoms have improved dramatically. I have 28 day cycles, I ovulate on my own, I have NO acne, and my facial hair is significantly less. Sometimes PCOSers have a harder time losing weight because of our insulin resistance, but I have not run into that. At 6 months out, I am 84 lbs down. Good luck - I love my sleeve, it has been amazing.
