Has anyone's Dr. prescribed natural progesterone to them? I just recently had a check up because I was tired and stuff and the Dr. said I could be low on progesterone. I have ovarian cysts and have been trying to get pregnant for the last 8 years. I am not sure if I am PCOS person or not. I get wiry little hairs on my chin that I can control with the tweezers but I do have a regular period every month. I am currently waiting for test results so no decisions to take Progesterone have been made yet. Thanks! Leslie

PCOS has many different symptoms, you can have only some, or hardly any. so, my guess is you do have it! (yay for you! *lol*)  btu you can treat the symptoms. me for instance, i have a horrible reaction when i take progesterone. so, be careful! make sure and do the testing and stuff and ask about side effects, and if you get some, you probably shouldn't take it. Good luck to you!

I just wanted to let you know that I used natural progesterone for quite some time with much success.  Natural progesterone is QUITE different from synthetic and generally comes in cream form which has to be prepared by a compounding pharmacist if prescribed.  You can buy it at a health food store in cream form as well, but there you run the risk of not knowing exactly how much you're getting.  Be cautious if buying it from a health food store as some will say they're natural progesterone when in fact they include Wild Yam which will act as an estrogen.  This may make symptoms worse.  There are some very good books out there about using natural progesterone.  One of them that I read was "What your doctor may not tell you about menopause."  I know you're thinking you didn't ask about menopause, but it's actually about Hormone Balance.  It was written by Doctor John Lee and he's considered an authority on Hormone Balance.  If you do decide to go the natural progesterone route (this is how I got pregnant with my 2nd child) and do get pregnant make sure you don't stop using the cream right away.  A sudden drop in progesterone can cause a miscarriage.  Also, the doctor should be able to draw blood to test estrogen, progesterone and testosterone and then a compounding pharmacist could mix up the exact levels of any that you're deficient of. I myself have had a hysterectomy so I don't suffer like I used to with PCOS, Endometriosis and Fibroid Tumors, but I've recently started having night sweats so I think I may be headed for menopause and will likely start using the progesterone cream again.  Best of luck to you whatever you decide to do.  Hopefully they will find some way to help you get pregnant.  Christy

Thank you so much Abby. I thought no one had an answer for me. I am going to my doctor next week and hopefully we will get this whole thing figured out. I looked at the natural progestrone they offered at the Vitamin Shoppe but there was no way I would buy it. I couldn't decifer what the heck it had in it exactly. My doctor is very into natural remedies so I have no doubt he will make sure I have the right stuff. Thank you for giving me a small glimmer of hope. I have always kept a small hope of maybe one day being pregnant again. Maybe this is what it will take. Thanks again!!!!!Leslie
