I am on birthcontrol now...Im hoping to get approved for wls in a few months. Is there a required time to go off birthcontrol before the surgery?

My surgery is set for 4/30.  They told me to keep taking my BCP.  Since it is so small I can take it after surgery too.  They say women usually become more fertile after the surgery.  We were told in our class to double the protection.  I hope this help.   Angie P :)

I was told to stop it a month prior to surgery and wait for 1 month after surgery before starting it again. It has nothing to do with the size though...surgery and birth control put you at risk for developing blood clots.

Talk to your OBGYN about doing the depo shot... it lasts 3 months- no periods- and no interfenece with antibotics... just go off it after surgery... other wise it can cause weight gain...
