for those with an RNY
I am two months post op now and my weight loss is like 3-4 pounds a week now, on average, is that typical for us or any clue? I know everyones loss is different etc, but I was hoping it would go down faster, a woman that I know that got a DS 2 weeks before me is losing 9-11 pounds a week and I just wonder if its something I am doing wrong, or the difference in the surgeries, pcos, or all of it combined. I have been extremely low carb for months now...
So much depends on how much you weigh in the beginning and then everyone loses differently. I started at 254 and 5'6". I am 8 weeks out now and in the beginning it just melted off but the last two weeks I didn't lose anything. Then I started my period today and just like that there were 3 pounds gone. I think for me I am losing an average of 2 or 3 pounds per week. 9-11 pounds a week sounds like a lot to me.
You are about right, you don't want to lose faster than that. I'm about the same, but it doesn't depend on what you started with and if you are execising too. I didn't lose anything for about two weeks once I started exercising, cardio 5 days and 2 days with personal trainer. So you are just fine.
I have 10 months to lose 60 more lbs and I'll be at my goal. So, just l try to look at it from that standpoint

Actually 3-4 lbs a week now sounds about right. Don't compare to a DSer...they've had a completely different surgery than you did. They've had MUCH more of the intestines bypassed which means that although they can eat more...they absorb less. Just keep doing what you're doing...you'll be fine!
BTW - I think I lost about that at 2 months out...no more loosing for me now...time to gain some weight back...

I lost about 2 pounds a week... sometimes 3 or 4... once I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks... so as you can see... my weight loss is all over the place...
But as you lose the weight your hormones go nuts in trying to return to normal... don't worry about it... but also what are you doing for exercising...
