Waiting not so patiently!

This Weds will make 3 weeks since my Psychiatric evaluation and about 4 weeks since my consult. As of last weds Nothing has been submitted to my insurance yet. I did everything at there office so it would go faster.. I am not a very patient person. I am not sure if they are just Back Logged and too busy to get things done right away or if it normally takes several weeks for them to send anything in to insruance companies. The Psychologist they have on staff at the surgeons office did say she was about a week behind in writing her reports and would have it done in about a week. Maybe she is further behind than what she said??  I did email them to ask if anything has been submitted yet but they didn't answer me.. I hate to be one of those pain in the butt patients who keeps bothering them or calling.. But I am also scared to get lost in the cracks.. sometimes that can happen in a busy medical practice. Once my insruance is submitted I am pretty sure they will approve. I did a pretty complete diet effort report and have a BMI of 40. No significant co morbidities , just PCOS related Insulin resistance and undiagnosed acid reflux... I live on tums.  I just wish I knew how long all this is supposed to take... I have never had to wait for surgery before in my life ... was always approved in a day or 2 but then it was orthopedic surgery and not elective. My surgeon said anywhere from a month to 6 weeks... so I guess in a couple more weeks I will know for sure.

I have been in your shoes. I think we all have. :-) The waiting game is frustrating. I just got approved last week. Now I am waiting to get scheduled.... always the wait. And you know what? My patience wasn't so strong either. I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. I called the person in charge of compiling and filing all info with insurance and called several times... more like 10.

So find  out who that  person is at your office. Then call and say, "Hey I'm just checking in to make sure everything is in and I have completed everything I need for you to file my claim." Make it seem like you are just nervous and want everything to work fine (which is true)... and that's something most bariatric clinics are used to. My insurance lady even said (after I apologized for calling back a bunch of times), "Don't worry. I know how it is. It seems  like a long tunnel, but I promise, you are almost at the end."

Seek answers - "When will it be submitted?" "Who is in charge of submitting." It's your job to have them remember you and your case.

In the meantime --- after doing all that --- find a hobby, lol. Or you will drive yourself crazy.. :-)
