OMG I had no idea

I have been shaving hair off of my face for years and it is not getting better. I am thankful that my period started as well and I believe that WLS helps turn things around after a while. I think that, after significant weight is lost, it helps prevent and even cease alot of the side affects of PCOS. I have been told that it caused problems with the heart, ovarian cancer, etc. but I had an awesome team of doctors that wrote letters and got me this surgery. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens as the weight comes off.

I am to early on to notice a lessening of hair growth from the surgery really unless like my head hair its falling ou, but it is less on my chins but not my sideburns yet, I also use one of those epiator things (supposed to be for your arm pits but what the hell) it hurts but I noticed that constantly using it seems to have lightened the growth some, that or its growing so sporadic now I notice it less, either way thats a good thing.  Shaving just dindt work it left me with 5 oclock shadow all the time.  So far nothing has helped my little mustache though... I plan to try laser later when I am more even on hormones I hear it grows back if you dont.

I have had problems with facial hair for many years, but about a year ago I started drinking spearmint tea. It lessened the facial hair some. Then about 2 months ago I read an article in First magazine about a diet using whey and soy protein. The whey works on insulin and the soy works on fat and has lessened the facial hair considerably. Since I started using this 2 months ago, I have lost 40 lbs., a lot of the dark patches on my skin have started to disappear, and the fat lump on my back just below my neck is disappearing. The article said that soy has plant estrogens that some post menopausal use instead of hormone replacement therapy. I thought I'd tell you about this incase you want to try it. Ashley

Hi Ash,
I wouls love to know what products you used of rthe whey and soy aspect of the article. I will try to find some spearmint tea to start using as well. Do you find this at a local grocery store or have to go to GNC? I am so glad you posted this to share with people.

For the Whey and Soy I have been going to GNC. I get the GNC Pro Performance Whey Protein Complex and the GNC Pro Performance Soy Protein 95. For the mint tea, I get Bigelow Mint Medley, and you can pretty much get it at any grocery store.  I hope this helps you.

I can't do lazer because I have red hair! I have been shaving it, but I noticed the other night my three year old was falling asleep rubbing my chin like she does to my husband so  I am going back to plucking.  I hate the hair thing.  To be honest there are a lot of things about my body taht I am not happy about as of late. Thanks for all your help Kim

I have had to shave/pluck/wax my chin and side burns for about 15 years.... I'm 28 now. I have tried Lasers, didn't work. I haven't tried vaniqa yet; but from what I understood is that it only slows down the growth not irradicate it. Another option out there is spironolactone, I don't know if it helps because I'm allergic to it. One day when I get rich I will try electrolysis. :) Good luck tho!

I still have facial hair a bit and carry my tweezers everywhere (thank God they allow them on planes again!!).... I do notice most of the physical symptoms are gone; but htis one stuck around.  :(
