period won't stop...advice?

Hi there.  I am a PCOer who had RNY 5 weeks ago.  I was taking 1500 mg of Metformin prior to surgery (stopped 3 months prior to surgery)I started my period about 2 days after surgery.  My problem is that I started my period again almost 1.5 weeks ago and it doesn't appear to be going away.  At what point do I need to call my PCP?

Hi there, sorry that you are going through such an extended period.  I would call my surgeon and gynecologist.  Good luck to you!

yes call them cause last thing you want right now is to get  anemic or start hemmoraging or something... Every female ive talked to started their period within 2-3 days of surgery seems its got somethign to do with the anesthesia

Get thee to the doctor, I had a period last 3 weeks once and ended up in the hospital getting blood transfusions.. I almost died!

How bad is the flow?  If it is just like a trickle here or there, I wouldnt be so concerened.  But I would still get an appointment to see the dcotor.  But if it is a flow, I would run not walk to the dr.  I have been have a trickle for about a month now, its something that comes with this dreaded PCOS thing.  I hope to be relieved of it after surgery.

I have had my period over 2 weeks now- very heavy too!  Saw GYN and he did an ultrasound and I have a fibroid the size of a grapefruit..bad bad cramps etc....he did a biopsy so we shall see that happens.  I am on provera too...fun times
