Acanthosis Nigricans after WLS?

I posted this on Lap band forum as well, and information would be wonderful. Has anyone been diagnosed with Acanthosis Nigricans pre l WLS? For those of you not familiar, it is a darkenning and thickening of skin around neck, under arms due to either insulin resistance or pre diabetes. I have it and I would like to know what are the chances that it might improve after WLS? Any insight would be appreciated.  I posted this on lap band as well as main forum, someone mentioned many PCOS (like myself) cases sufferning from and advised me to post it here as well. Thanks Ellie

My AN is pretty much gone now that I've lost the weight.  I only have a slight darkened area at my waist and that's it.  The dark areas around the neck, groin, armpits, elbows & 'bra line' are gone.  Of course my insulin levels are normal now too. Good luck to you! Kristy

i have it currently but it has faded in the past when i get down under 330 so I am hoping that will happen again, it will take longer under the rolls and stuff im guessing but my neck is what i worry about more, cause its visible... I dont know of any real treatments for it, but I have found using Queen Helene's Mint Julip mask (mud mask) on it helps lighten it but you have to use it every week or so I get mine at walmart or walgreens its pretty cheap works great on the face too lol hope this helps
