So I am 9 months out now. Today I had the ultrasound done and discovered that I still have large cysts on my ovaries. I don't have the exact results yet, but I am disappointed and worried. One of the pushing factors in having this surgery  was thinking that it would help me to have children. I don't want to have children just yet as it is too soon, but I had the assumption that things would have improved by now. I thought I was doing great because I get a regular periods now, which was not possible before surgery. I expected there to be some cysts still, but why do I still have the really big ones?  Can someone Please tell me if these stupid cysts are going to be a problem in the future when I want to conceive. I would greatly appreciate it if someone out there can break this down for me. I hear about fertility after the surgery, but does everyone still get the large cysts? Sometimes, I cramp when I am not even on my period, Is it because of this? I just want to beleive that all the drama I have gone through is going to pay off!

The transvaginal ultrasound isn't anything to worry about it's no more painful than your OBGYN visits. As you continue to lose weight the cyst will get smaller. I had a transvaginal ultrasound last month and for the first time in over 10 years there was no signs of cysts and I'm further out than you are, but we are all different it could be you just have them naturally if your not getting the answers you think you should I'd go for a second opinion with another OBGYN. All the best!

201 pounds lost since surgery!! And I'm 2 1/2 inches taller too!!

And YES I still eat Carbs and Fats but I know what portion control is!!

I have not had the surgery yet however, I was able to get pregnant while being overweight.  When I got pregnant they did a trans-vaginal ultrasound on me because I was too fat for them to do a regular one. So they were able to see the baby better by doing that.  It was basically like having a pap.  Anyway, just be positive because I got pregnant with my son and I hadn't  had a period for a little over a year.  My doctors were in complete shock and they could not explain it.  But I was determined to get pregnant.  I also did not use any fertility to get pregnant.

Hi-

You have every right to be concerned about the transvaginal ultrasound but don't worry it is as the others replies mentioned not alot of fun but no too awful. All I can do is relate my IVF story when doing INvitros you have about 12 Transvaginal Ultrasounds during the cycle to see how the follicles are growing based upon the drugs you inject. I will admit I was nervous at first but eventually the tech hands you the probe to put inside yourself as you can guide it easier want to talk about UNCOMFORTABLE! Holy Crow I was shocked all I said was "weren't you trained to do this...I am not sure I am qualified" she laughed but I was mortified soon all that passed. Remember like your normal gyn exam the more relaxed you are the easier it is. When you get done do something nice for yourself perhaps you need some perfume, a new lipstick or the like. I call these "be brave gifts" and they are wonderful to look forward to. Best wishes.
