Anyone have a severe allergic reaction after laser hair removal?

On Monday I had my first session of laser hair removal on my chin. After the lasering they applied a thin coat of copper cream to the area and sent me on my way. Well here I am several days later (still) with a severe allergic reaction, I think to the copper cream. I am allergic to nickle (like in earrings) so it makes a bit of sense but this is terrible. It itches like crazy, swollen, looks horrible, ugh. I was worried about burns but the doc said its definitely an allergy rash, gave me a shot and a steroid pack and sent me on my way. I'm just wondering if anyone else had this problem? FYI - I AM going to continue lasering, rash or no rash this hair has got to GO, but I'm skipping the copper from now on, to see if that helps.

I have had it done twice now and have had a bad reaction both times.  Red swollen adn very itchy...And my derm doesnt use and copper cream.  Mine also was not burned but a bad reaction to the heat from the laser.

Wow interesting, thanks for the reply. I am going to try it without any creams and keep myself iced afterwards for 24 hours to try to minimize the reaction. I hate to say it, but it was worth every second, the results are AMAZING.

I have had laser done 5 times and the first time I got extreme edema in my chin.  The good news is it got better each time.  BTW, While the results are good don't expect it to necessarily last.  I need to go back in for another round of treatment because the hair comes back within a year, albeit lighter than before. I have had several treatments.  Mine are done at a plastic surgeon's office with a Candela laser.  I love the results.  Afterward if I want it they put on a little aloe, but usually I don't need anything.  Maybe they could try just plain aloe?  Good luck! Lisa
