Intro

Just thought I'd take a second to introduce myself.  I was diagnosed with PCOS about 15 years ago.  What a relief it was to know that the weight "wasn't my fault".  It wasn't until a few years ago when I started taking Metformin that I got any kind of relief from the symptoms, though.   I had my surgery 11/7/07, and my doctor discontinued my metformin right away.  I had really slow weight loss and all kinds of problems with my period.  I finally convinced her to let me go back on it (at half the dose I was on before) and lo and behold!  I'm losing around a pound a day for the first time.   I'm sure my doctor is not the only one who has done this, so if your doctor wants to discontinue your meds, try to convince them to let you stay on it.

Welcome aboard and congratulations... me ive never been on any of the medications for my problem, the doctors all told me they didnt do enough to bother with them basically, i was like .... but i read.... anyway so far im loosing good but if it stalls to much I may consider asking for some or switching doctors (again, this is my umpteenth doctor for gyno)

My OBGYN wouldn't prescribe it for me.  I had to go to my PCP.  Because it's a diabetic med, my OBGYN said it would be better to go through him.  He did, however, send a request to the PCP for why he wanted this med considered.

I had to mention metformin to my PCP.. he hadnt even thought to put me on anything.
