Birth Control Issues

I am almost 10 months out of RNY surgery.  I'm down 126lbs.  My only problem since having this surgery is my monthly's.  I've been on the nuva ring 2 different times 3 months each, femcon for 3 months and neither are helping regulate me.  I'm having a cycle 2 times a month or 1 two week long one.  On the nuva ring it would come the week before I was scheduled to take it out.  And of course after I took it out it was there the whole following week.  On Femcon birth control I would have one on the 2nd week of the pack and then on the 4th week.  This is getting really old.  Anyone else having this problem?  I went from before surgery not having one but maybe 3 or 4 times a year to having them constantly now.  I have an appointment with my ob scheduled for the 15th.  But just needed some idea if anyone else is having this same issue..if you did...did you find something that works?

My OBGYN put me on the depo BC shot, because he said anyone over 150 will run into the issue of the BC not working right... I did have some spoting but now that is gone... I'm down 80 pounds and at 260 now...

I would really sit down and talk to your OB and hammer out a plan... because what you are dealing with just sucks!

My ob/gyn didn't want to put me on depo as I have been on it pre-surgery and gained weight.  And she didn't want anything to hender my weight loss.  So I have no idea what we are going to do.  But I just know this is getting on my nerves.  My cycles right now are 17 days from the start of my last one to the first day the new one...

well all BC will cause weight gain... with the depo shot I only gained 2 pounds after the shot... the next week I lost 5 pounds... so no matter what form of BC you pick (i.e.- pills, IUD, shots) you are going to gain weight... my OBGYN was completely upfront about that... and I was on this pre-srugery and was still able to lose weight before the day of surgery...

I'm sorry to hear about yrou AF and BC issues...but unfortunately almost all hormonal forms of birth control can have an effect on your weight and your cycles because your interrupting natures hormonal ebb & flow.  I think if all else fails you just might have to resort to only using condoms as your form of BC. Good luck. Kristy

I had the same exact results I'm trying to get the nuva ring to work for me because i hate having to take a pill everyday but most likely I'll be going back to mircette which is the only birth control i've been on that has completely regulated my periods infact i had light periods that lasted 3-4 days exactly when i was supposed to have them the entire time i was on it so i know everyones different but its worth a try. goodluck!

I have been on Nuvaring for a while now.. It took quite a while for my body to get used to it. The first 2 cycles I bled the entire time except for when the ring was out and I was supposed to have my period. lol. My 3rd Cycle i didn't bleed while it was in thankfully, but when i took it out I only had mild spotting.. and Then on my 5th cycle I finally had a normal period. How it was explained to me is that when you have PCOS your hormones get so out of wack from not having a period that when you finally get the BC your body has practically forgotten what to do, so that it can take a while to get back to normal. The same when you jump from BC to BC. So talk to your gyno, mine said for me to just stick with one because switching it up just confuses the body even more and you are less likely to get back to normal. Just what I was told, it worked for me, but your gyno may have a different opinion.
