I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I have been on Metforium going on two months now. I take 2000 mg every day! I'm tired of it already! I currently have the band and honestly...I would love to have the RNY done. My husband is completely against my wish and decision. Can you guys please give me all the information you know of, as to how I can convince him to switch from the LAPBand to the RNY. I honestly don't think my band is working the way it should be. It scares the crap out of me. He wants children before I have RNY, but at this rate, I really don't think it is ever going to happen.  Thanks!

I was diagnosed with PCOS over a year ago and just started my Metformin two months ago also. I take the same dose you do, 500mg pills 4x a day. I got tired of them like a month ago, but they are starting to not get on my nerves anymore as I just have gotten use to taking them.  I should be getting banded in the next few months and am curious, they are fairly big pills. Are you having to crush them or cut them? Laura

Honestly I wish I would have done the RNY. I hate my band! I have cut the pills in half. Or they will get stuck.  Right now I'm going to talk to my surgeon and see what he says.  Sara

Please look at the DS as well if you're looking at the RNY.

Hi Laura,

I've taken Metformin for years and was banded almost a year ago. In the beginning, I crushed the pills, then cut them in half for a while. Now, I just take them whole without any problems.

As long as your meds don't irritate the small pouch, they can be taken whole and should dissolve quickly.
