Hi, I've had IBS, the diarrhea type, for many years now. I was diagnosed w/ pcos at 19 but continued to eat carbs. anytime i eat anything processed (which is all the time) i get sick to my stomach and have to run to the bathroom. I know if i do low carb, this problem goes away.  my question is, did anyone have this same problem and did the surgery help them?

Are you also taking Metformin?  It sounds like how I was when I didn't eat low carb while taking Metformin.  Anyway, if you're on Metformin it sounds like it's medicine related...and if that's the case then chances are that after surgery your need for the med will go away and you should be fine.  Other than that...if you're not taking Metformin...I'm not sure...although post op RNYers are a little more prone to constipation than diarrhea... Good luck! Kristy

I haven't had surgery, but I do have pcos and do experience what you're talking about.  I haven't been taking my met/glucophage for awhile now and the problem is very bad.   When I take met and don't eat right it's  much, much worse!
