I started my first non-medically induced period in eight years on Dec.6, 2007. This is a huge deal to me....exactly 28 days since my surgery. It lasted five days and was really crampy-but not as bad as it could have been if I hadn't been using progesterone to have periods for the last few months before my RNY( now those were some crazy ones). I won't know if I'm ovulating for a few months, but YAY!!! Hugs, Angie

Angie- I had my RNY on August 6, 2007 and am currently on my 2nd "naturally occurring" cycle in 2 months only about 34 days apart WOW!  Hard to imagine that this is the way it is suppose to be when I averaged about 3 to 4 periods per year and when I was on the pill years ago went 5 solid years with NO PERIOD at all.  I feel better with now 75 pounds off and just crave chocolate this week. I even think I am beginning to get when I ovulate and everything.  I hope that all continues to go well for you. Best Wishes, Carol

Congrats!  What an awesome feeling huh? I was on the birth control patch until I was a year out but when I stopped taking it I found I had regular 36 day cycles...and...I was ovulating on my own!  Amazing!  Our first month not using protection I got pregnant.  We're hoping #2 is just as easy! That is great news! Congrats! I have been struggling with PCOS and long cycles for awhile now (currently 79 days since my last period) and I am hoping that will change after my surgery as well.  Oh and I am an Army wife too! I thought there might be a message board for Military Spouses but I have yet to discover one. I know 4 ladies here at Fort Drum who have had WLS though.  If you start charting your Basal Body temperature you will be able to tell this month if you are ovulating though. Good luck! Melissa

Evidentally I was ovulating. We had a condom mishap on the 18th of January and I am now six weeks pregnant. I refuse to see this as anything but a blessing. I am only 26 lbs away from having a normal BMI. Hugs, Angie
