PCOS and Lapband surgery
I had my lapband put in on August 22, and I have lost 23 lbs since the day of surgery and and 47 lbs overall since I made the decision to have the surgery. I started out looking at RNY but ultimately chose the band and feel it was the right decision for me. I understand that it will be a slower loss, which may be even slower due to the PCOS. It is easier than dieting....I was always hungry. For the first time ever, I have hope that I will become a "normal" weight and be healthy. I have been very happy with my journey so far. But you do have to make the best decision for you. Best of luck to you!

Hi, lapbander who has lost 87 lbs since March. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 years ago with high DHEA levels. Haven't had bloodwork to see where they are.
Personally, the stats PROVE that lapbanders do just as well as RNY patients, just don't lose it quite as fast. In studies at the 72 month mark, the amount lost is roughly the same. I wasn't big on having my insides re-routed and that is why I chose the lapband.
No regrets here!

hello, i had the lapband done ine aug and so far ive lost 38lbs...i dont think my pcos has made it any harder to lose weight and im not even on meds yet. im going to drs soon and hopefully with meds i will lose even more. rny just wasnt for me. i just need a little help thats why i got a tool to lose weight with. i didnt want to cut up my organs and force myself to lose weight. but everyone has their reasons.
I was diagnosed with PCOS almost 20 years ago. I had lapband surgery 14 mos ago and I have no regrets. My period returned after 19 years of not having one without provera....shows up every month now like clock work.......not that I missed it.....but I have no doubt my body is better off getting one.
