Losing HAIR!!!
100mg of Biotin should be good. I'm not sure how much the body needs but if you take too much then you'll just have really expensive pee since it's a water soluable vitamin.
Thanks about Alice...she's the light of my life. Yes...we're planning on one more baby possibly next year...depends on school (trying to get into nursing school).

Speaking of difference...did your fingernails benefit? Since surgery, mine are growing nicer and aren't as weak and brittle. Not sure if it's because of the vitamins I'm taking or the deletion of crappy foods. But my fingernails could still use more strength, they're a bit too thin and it's be cool if the biotin would give them a boost!

I'm 5'2'', I'm 34 years old, and I have 175 pounds to lose!!
From my experience, it seems as though everyone responds to WLS differently and the hair loss is no exception to that. Other patients have lost a significant amount of hair while I thinned a bit and nobody really noticed it except for myself.
I take lots of biotin (this has affected other hair growth, so be forewarned), took care of the protein by way of supplements, and used both Nioxin and Rogaine products. It seemed like Nioxin (used shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment all 1x/day) kept the hair I had on my head, the biotin seemed to give it more life, and the Rogaine has helped to bring back the hair I was losing. I'm six months out and there really isn't much difference between the beginning of surgery and now.
I have PCOS and have lost a great deal of hair to this condition already; I was terrified that I'd be bald by the time I was done. And I did lose my hair steadily through months 1-5; it was in the middle of Dec that the clumps began to get smaller and smaller. Still, nobody has noticed unless you count the nurses at my surgeon's office who were remarking that I WASN'T losing my hair.
I'd definitely use Nioxin and it's important to get your protein in for many reasons, not just for your hair. Best of luck to you with this and I hope that things start looking better for you on this front.
