Hello all.  I think my worst PCOS symptom is acne that I get along my jaw line.  Does anyone else have this and if so have you found anything that helps?  Any information would be appreciated!   Many thanks, Bonnie

I have one lovely cystic zit on my jawline right now! I hate hate HATE acne. The thing I've found that works the best (other than drinking lots of water!) has been washing my face really well at night and applying an acne preventative.  I used to get a lot worse breakouts and this has been doing the trick.  I also do an exfoliant scrub every morning.   Once a week, or if I have a bad breakout 2x a week, I do a mask for my oily skin. When I do get the acne, I apply a triple antibiotic cream to it (since zits are caused by bacteria :-) ) and it seems to get rid of the zits a bit faster that the stuff marketed to make zits go away faster. Total PITA.  I really like Proactiv (especially the mask) but am doing a cheaper alternative right now.

Thank you for replying.  I remove my make up and wash my face morning and night.  I have to say I can do better with drinking water.  I have heard about practiv so i am looking in to it.  I never thought about an antibotic cream but that makes a lot of sense.  Thanks again.  Take care ~Bonnie

I personally use Philosophy's Purity skin cleanser/makeup remover, Philosophy's Hope In a Jar moisturizer and I only use Bare Escentuals makeup. I may get one or two tiny breakouts but only the week before my cycle.  I firmly believe a lot depends on how we take care of our skin and what we put on our skin. Philosophy and Bare Escentuals can be bought at Sephora.

The kit I love and still use is Philosophy Acne Kit, http://www.philosophy.com/web/store/prod_acne-kit____14063_2 3503. When I first tried it I noticed a difference within a week and so I continue to use it. Remember as makeup artist and dermatologist will tell you it takes around 3 months for your skin to react properly to makeup and skin treatments. Let me know how it goes. All the best!!

You can use as many lotions and creams as you want, but the best thing to do for cystic acne is to get a script for a retin-a type cream. Tazorac has made my skin change 110% because the medication goes into your skin and actually does more than clean. It is a little tough to get your skin used to it, you may have itching and redness for the first few weeks, but you will see huge improvements. I reccomend using it every 2 days to start out, and not directly after you wash your face. You also do not want it apply it with moisturizer, as that will make your skin absorb it too quickly as well. Talk to your derm about getting your hands on a treatment like this, it will solve your acne problems.

Thank you so much for the information.  I will call my doctor next week to find out about it.  It is so annoying to be 39 and have to deal with acne!

I am on BCP and use perscription Duac Topical Gel.  That is a combination of clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide.  I am 41!!  My PCOS is SO much better since losing the weight.  However, I still get ovarian cysts. Robin
