Is this something that will turn your face red for a couple days - like you should do it on a Friday and not on your lunch hour at work? Also - anyone pay for it with a health care FSA?

Depending on your color to begin with, the darker you are the redder you will get, I have olive toned skin and when I am done with my laser session (before i went on accutane) I would be flaming red for hours, sometimes even going into the next day, My sister is very very pale and she is red for all of 10 minutes if even. gina

I have sensitive and very fair skin (with dark hair) and I have been having laser treatments for about a year...   My face gets red and stays red for a couple hours, I cool it off with an ice pack and it does fine.   I have BCBS and it doesn't pay for laser, they consider it cosmetic even though I have PCOS and it's a side effect of the disease - ugh!!! Best of luck!!!

Thanks for the info I have olive toned skin as well, so I was curious what happens there. THe healthcare FSA isnt technically insurance related, its a pretax "savings" account that is used for medical expenses (I use it for copays, out of pocket stuff, deductibles, even OTCs like tylenol and pepcid) It's been awesome and I am planning for next year. If I can use it for laser hair removal I'm gonna be knocking on their door Jan 2.

Hi  I live in the Uk and i have ruby red laser which is not a cure but reduces hair growth for a while and i find no problems with it. As one of the other ladies said it does depend on your skin tones etc, mine stays red for 1-2 mins and thats it.

Hey, I go to ideal image here in Florida, they use a permanent laser hair removal procedure that's guaranteed for life.  Its not electrolysis or any other jimmy job----I had it done and it works!   Incredible since I usually have a 5 o'clock shadow at 5 o'clock after shaving in the morning.

Hi Lex! I have my laser treatments on my lunch hour.  You can see my coloring from my avatar.  I don't really even have much redness.  I ask them to put cold aloe gel before I leave, I grab lunch and wipe it off before I return.  It works great! FSA won't reimburse you.  It's considered cosmetic.  Dumb, I know.

Damn that sucks, thanks for the info though Jen. Its open enrollment time so I'm tryin to decide how much to put in there. I figured if I could FSA that stuff I'd be all set lol

I have had laser hair removal over the past 4 years. I don't really turn very red. I am between fair and olive complexion. I would suggest going on a Friday the first time and see how you do. I have gone before and then gone on a date about 4 hours after though! Nikki

Hi Lexi, I've been having laser on my face for the last 9 months.  (I actually had it done today)...it does turn my face a bit red so I prefer to do it on Friday evenings.  I think it may also depend on how high the laser is turned up... My insurance will only pay if it is done by a doctor and not a "spa".
