Good evening! I've been posting on a few boards here for a bit and decided I'd spread my wings, so to speak.
My name is Bela. I'm 31 years old and mother of two precious angels - aged 7 and 11. I work full-time and will soon start working from home through my current employer. This greatly excites me! Instead of getting dressed up for work I can sit at home and work in my pajamas, LOL. Plus being overweight and sitting in an office chair at work all day isn't exactly comfortable. I also sell AVON and enjoy this, as well.
I'm no stranger to WLS or the struggles that come along with it hand-in-hand. I first started my journey in 2001. I attended a seminar for a local doctor, then began all of the required testing and such. The office stalled for simple callbacks and after 2-3 months of trying to just get in contact with them, I gave up. For good reason, as it turned out - the doctor was being sued for medical malpractice.
A few years later, I again began this journey, this time with a different doctor. When it came time to submit my paperwork, my insurance company denied the lap band, but approved RNY, which I was not wanting.
Here I am again, and hoping I can get approval for RNY. Yes, I've changed my mind after doing research and learning that much of my fears were based on myths and being misinformed.
My insurance plan states an exclusion for "surgical procedures for weight reduction obesity and their complications"... however, I'm hoping I can find a loophole, since it does not mention anything about medical necessity. If denied, I'm prepared to fight it out, as my medications and treatment for my co-morbidites alone would far surpass the surgery in just a year's time. I found out that the exclusion is thanks to my emplyer, so if needed, I will appeal it directly with them, too.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend & best wishes!
Bela,
Welcome to the boards! I'm sorry it has taken so long for me to reply but I don't come on this board very often... I wish you the best of luck with your WLS journey, I love my RNY!!!!!
