Is it ok not to Menstrate?
Hi !!! My GYN said I dont really have to get my period but can be on BC if I want to get it. Ok so for the last five years I have a year im on then off or a couple months im on then off or a year im off then on. This doesnt sound like it would be good. For the past year I really havent been on BC knowing that if I had my surgery I would get my period so basically my attitude has been I will just wait. What is another year of not being on BC gonna do. Oh and when im not on BC I would bleed at all. Thoughts?????

Having a cycle is critical for your health. Although you don't have to have it every single month, you should cycle at least every 3 months to shed your old lining. Going longer than that can increase your chances of developing endometrial cancer later in life. Now I don't know the exact stats of it...but my OB told me that having a cycle at least every 3 months keeps the risks down. If you don't want to go on BC then at least go in for a dose of Provera to induce a cycle if you're not having them on your own...at least until your cycles start to regulate themselves. Good luck!
