I have mild PCOS, my PCP told me not to take the metformin after surgery.  I lost 22 lbs in the first week after surgery.  Since then, 4 weeks, I have not lost a pound.  I'm acutally up 1 pound this week.  I'm so frustrated.   I know 22 lbs is great for a month, and i'm happy about it, but no loss in 4 weeks doesn't seem right.   Should I see my PCP??  Maybe I need to be back on Metformin?? I would appreciate hearing if anyone else has gone thru this. Thanks Nancy

It could be, but then again from time to time your body will need time to readjust.  Some women need to go back on Metformin...it wouldn't hurt to talk to your doc.  Good luck!

I'm not a doctor but your PCP seems a bit wacko to me. My WLS doctor, OBGYN, PCP, NUT & Endocrynologist all5, agreed that I was to go back on my Metformin 3 weeks postop.  I am meeting in three weeks with my PCP and Endocrynologist for my 3 month postop visit to see if I can now stop taking the Metformin, I'm not counting on it but I'm looking forward to being off the medication. I'd recommend speaking to your WLS doctor, Obgyn & Endocrynologist and maybe looking for a new PCP, JMHO. ALL THE BEST!

201 pounds lost since surgery!! And I'm 2 1/2 inches taller too!!

And YES I still eat Carbs and Fats but I know what portion control is!!

Hi, I spoke to them all, they don't want me on Metformin, because my blood sugar will go too low.  I'm still on a liquid diet! Thanks for the response!!

I was taken off Metformin too.. going to reevaluate at 6 mos out. I am almost seven weeks out and I definitely slowed down and had some mini stalls.  I've been told it's totally normal because your body is adjusting.
