9 days post op and aunt flow came to town
After 2 years of going without a period Aunt Flow came for a visit. It is suprisingly how light of a flow I have and she has been here for a couple of days. Don't get me wrong. I am happy that my body is doing what it is supposed to do. That really gives me hope for the future. I never believed the doctors when they said if I lost 10% of my excess body weight that she would come back. Well I have lost 27 pounds in my first week and so that's more than 10% so they were right! Anything else I should expect to happen as far as my PCOS symptoms? I have every single one of them.
Well...congrats on your surgery & AF! It's quite common for AF to show shortly after surgery. You can expect weird cycles for a bit while your hormones balance out. As you loose weight, you loose fat...and estrogen is stored in fat. Eventually you should get some sort of a normal cycle. I went from zero cycles a year to regular 36 day cycles at 1 year post op. I was even ovulating on my own...something I don't think I ever did as a pre op. My acne got much better & the AN (ancanthosis nigricans...dark spots of skin on my neck/elbows....) got better as well...now you can hardly see it. My IR & diabetes went away & I stopped getting skin tags. Unfortunately I still have the facial hair, but the only thing that will make that go away is removal. When it grows in...it doesn't go away. On the flip side...at least it's not getting worse!! Also, now I don't know if kids are in your future...but I was able to get pregnant once the weight was gone...with no medical help! Now...remember...PCOS doesn't go away...it'll always be there, but it can get better. I know some ladies who still have many PCOS symptoms...I lucked out and mine went away for the most part. It's different for everyone. Anyway...good luck & congrats!

I'm almost 9 mos post up and Aunt Flow came to visit me after and absence of 19 YEARSthis past week ....they said that it could happen but never in a million years did I think it would come back on it's own. I haven't noticed any other changes in my PCOS symtoms as of yet but I'm hoping things get better.
